Raven: The Saga Continues
I found this 1970 F-250 4x4 a little over a year ago, talked with the owner, who bought the truck for the engine, and said after he pulled the engine and transmission that I could have anything I wanted off of the truck before he scrapped it.
Unfortunately, this past winter the owner unexpectedly passed away in an equipment accident. I waited a bit and approached his wife about the truck, she said I could have the whole thing, that she didn't know anything about it or really care what happened to it.
This past week, she had her brother in law pull the truck out of the woods, and I replaced rims and tires with these wagon wheels to make it more easily movable. The truck has no title, is in very rough shape, and I feel bad for the family and their situation, so I feel that everyone is very happy with the $100 I paid for the truck.
I have a verbal agreement to buy a local '69 F-250 4x4 that has been sitting for about 10 years but is in much better shape than this one. My plan is to combine the two and have one useable, driveable truck.

Re: The Start of my 4x4 Build
Thank you! It has to sit until my wife and I buy a house with some land (and hopefully a nice sized garage) so that I can bring it and the mentioned '69 home and slowly combine the two.
Until then, progress is at a dead stop, sadly.
I guess I could trailer up the '69 and let it sit with the '70, but no one is pushing me to move it, so I'm in no hurry... yet.

Re: The Start of my 4x4 Build
Hey guys, I honestly didn't expect this many people to respond to a thread that really doesn't have much going on in it.
But seeing that a few of you showed interest, here is a couple photos of the '69 F-250 4x4 that I plan on combining with the '70.
Body is not terrible for sitting in the PA snowbelt for over 10 years. Cab rockers, floors, and cab corners are shot. Will probably try to find a new cab for it. The bed isnt terrible, but where the toolbox is located, it is severely rusted above the door, along with some decent holes in the floor. Inner fenders and cab mounts are surprisingly in good shape, from what I can tell. Someone put a dentside computer chip in it at one point, and it melted to the inner fender. That will be removed and put back to bumpside factory setup. It also has a froze up 460 in it. I am unsure if I want to just use the good 390 in the '70 or rebuild the 460. But I have time to decide.
Also, I picked up a factory steel grille guard for the build, which also came with a corresponding '67 grille. And since I don't have the heart to cut up a good grille, and I'm a stickler for small details, the exterior of the build may have to be '67 themed...

I'm in and watching. I'm doing a bumpside 4WD rebuild as well, so message me, I've done most of the work at this point, happy to impart hard-earned wisdom!

Re: The Start of my 4x4 Build
Thanks for the support guys! However, until my wife and I successfully buy a house with some land, (we've attempted to buy 4-6 so far), the progress is on hold. But as soon as I tear into them, you all will know!

Re: The Start of my 4x4 Build
Well, I got some good news today, the lady who sold me the '70 4x4 found the title today. This give me legal ownership and the possibility of putting that truck/frame back on the road some day as well...
No luck with the house situation, so the search continues.
Meeting to transfer the title in two days.
