Sons F250 project

Post by Juniors67 »

Well I figured I would start this thread to post the updates on the truck. They have been getting quite a bit done lately with less snow days at school. Here are few pictures of the progress this last couple weeks since we joined the site. They did the body work on the hood have it in primer, done most for the sanding on the cab and removed the bed today to start the cab corners tomorrow. More updates to follow!

Great father son project, keep us posted. Nice facilities to do the work. Looks like a solid truck to start with also.

Update! They have the cab corners cut out and they have done a little rebuilding on the rockers this week! They took the gas tank out and are preping for a tank relocate, Mustang tank under the bed in the rear! I also did a little horse trading with and extra set of steal wheels I had laying here from my 02' F 250 and got him a set of 97' F 250 aluminum wheels! To say they needed a little TLC would be an understatement! But after stripping them of the stupid clear coat and doing a lot of sanding and polishing they should be ok! But trying to find a set of factory center caps for these wheel with out breaking the bank is not easy. He just doesn't have that much in the budget right now for new ones! I'll find a set this year at one of the swap meets!! I hope hehe! Heres a little before and after on the wheels. The one thats done was the worst one and I'd say it turned out Ok!!

That looks great! I have 2 friends with diesel pusher motorhomes that had severely oxidized aluminum wheels when they got them and I polished them out to an almost mirror shine so I can appreciate the work that goes into that - great job........

Update. They have been working hard on the truck. They have the cab pretty much done. The cab corners have been replaced and all body work done! They have the bed cleaned up and ready for a little TLC to the seam! I know there are posts about the seam sealer but can anyone tell me what is the best option for it! I need to get it ordered! Had a little miss hap with the seal for the back window when they removed the window, any suggestions for the best place for a seal? Thanks in advance for any help. Here's a couple pictures of the progress!

Regarding the body seam, I guess it depends on the duty and look you want it to have. Some guys weld it shut and grind it smooth. Some sandblast it clean and fill with lead. Others might want a factory look.

Dennis Carpenter has the best window gaskets, hands down. If you’re not installing the stainless, it should be relatively straightforward.

Looking good!

If you ARE installing the stainless trim, it has to go in before the gasket is installed on the truck.

Getting some color!! Someone cut the doors before he got it and they didn't have time to fix them before the end of the school year! So we're gonna mount some speakers in the holes!

Thats the same color red on my 2011 F250. He wanted it the same color as my truck. Their hard at it today. He wanted to keep the truck looking a little like a Coca Cola truck so he chose to do the bump and roof white!
