F600 instrument cluster woes

Post by Broncodriver3 »

I have a 70 f250 with a 390 and the stock instrument cluster had gauges. I swapped to a f600 set up from a 73 truck and nothing seems to be working. I checked the plug and there is power there but the gauges don’t seem to be working. Any ideas?

If that's a metal dash it might have to be grounded .try a jumper wire and see if that helps.

Also if none of the gauges work try swapping your IPVR
( instrument panel voltage regulator ) with the old one and see if that makes a difference.

Broncodriver, do you have the violet resistance wire going to the black with green stripe on the cluster? That is the power feed wire for the cluster. I'll see if my diagram picture will attach.

I thought '70 was when they went to the different connector...

Wire colors stayed the same so as mentioned above, check the colors from one side to the other and make sure they match. If nothing works, put the old cluster back in to verify you didn't bugger up the chassis wiring from a short somehow.

They did change to a printed circuit in 70, I did away with the plug and re terminated the wire with the pins for the 67-69 cluster.
