Stewart Warner Tach

Post by 71 LONG BED »

When I got my gauges from an F750 there was a SW tach. It is a cable run tach not electric. I know it needs to go to the distributor. Is there a distributor I can get with the provision for a tach, that is for a 302? It would be great if I could use an original, matching tach. Thanks in advance for any info on this subject. :D

First of all, thanks for the quick reply. Yes, $650 is out of budget and unfortunately so is $350, for a tach, I mean. I have an electric Auto Meter tach that I was going to make a bezel for, so it would fit into the factory hole in the gauge cluster. I wonder how hard it would be to take the insides of the Auto Meter and put them in the Stewart Warner? Any suggestions? Do you think that this is can be done by myself or should it be left to a professional? :?

I would leave it to a professional. I would just make the bezel and mount your own guage and be done with it. Cheaper and easier.

I think that is the way I'm going to go Big D. I am actually hoping to get the dash panel installed soon. I just haven't had the time. I want to clean up the wiring on the back of the panel and still need to turn down an adapter bezel for my AutoMeter tach. Oh-well, I have time. Rome wasn't built in a day. Maybe one snowy day this winter when I'm bored I'll try to take the SW tach apart just to see what's inside.

I finally made the bezel for the AutoMeter tach. I think it came out pretty good. The boss was out, the machine next to me was free, and I had a long running cycle in my own machine. The planets must have been in line today!
Anyway, here it is.
