New set of screwdrivers

Sears is 30 miles away and the Snap-On man stops by once a week. and I bought 'em all from someone else 25 years ago and he still has to fix 'em.



And I thought I had every dang screwdriver I would ever need.....

And then I got another old Honda to play with.....

And got back into all those cursed Philips-looking screws that would turn to shavings at the mere touch of a Philips screwdriver.....(although the cheesy little driver in the pouch under the seat fit quite nicely......)

And found out that they aren't Philips screws after all.





It seems that our Asian friends have their own idea of how a cross-point screw/driver should be formed, and it aint Philips.

Looks like McMaster-Carr is going to get $14.05 plus freight for a set of four ((cat. #53325A41) sizes +1, +2, +3, +4) Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) cross-point screwdrivers, so I can stop mangling screws.

And that's going to be my new set of screwdrivers.

My lastest set is a set of MAC . My friend bought them then decided to sell all his tools. So for the price I had to grab them. John

I don't have alot of Snap-on stuff but In my opinion a must is Screwdrivers and at least their ratchets. My personal favorite is my offset handle ratcheting screwdriver. Expensive but worth every penny.

I still have a couple of old Thorson screwdrivers. From back when Thorson made good tools.

I bought a set of those 'grip drivers' from Craftsman a few years ago. The premise is to squeeze the handle to turn the screw, the ease off on the pressure to turn your hand to get another bite without removing the driver from the screw... kind of a ratcheting action without the ratchet.

One word... AWFUL !!!!

I used one of them for about 20 seconds, put it back in the case and put the case on a shelf. Terrible concept IMO.
