lost my buddy/copilot

well guys things just haven't been the same around my house since Wednesday sadly my dog died on Tuesday night and things just aren't the same without her its weird driving the bump around and not having her in the passenger seat or having her watch me work on it. she was one of kind she would caught mice but she would just lick them to death and she would lay under the heater at the turkey coupe and let all the baby turkeys lay on her

we think she ate something poisoned because se was staggring around that night then she puked on the floor i knew she wouldnt make it through the night so i stayed up untill 2am with her just peting her then the next morning at about 9 she took her last breath and she was gone i just cant get her of my mind, i only had her at my house for a year but i knew her pretty much all my life.

There's nothing like having a dog, especially a black lab. My lab was Zeke and he did everything with me and my family. But he got old and in his way he asked me to give him peace as he was getting crippled and sick, so we said our good-byes at the Vet's office and we parted. That was just about 20 years ago and I still haven't got over it. The kids gave me a runt German Shepard and she is a great dog. Runt? Well she has one ear up and one ear down, not what the upitty, upitty up's want in a dog but she is the same as your dog, goes everywhere and I even took her flying once and she seemed alright with that. We have had several dogs here, the chicken killers met Mr. Remington but most have been very good and I wil never own a small dog. They all have to be labs or shepard females. Condolences for your loss, another will come along but you will never forget the real good ones. Thanks for the pics!

I feel your pain had acouple of awesome dogs go too. But think, there all laying around talking about how cool it was to ride around in our bumps and slober down the passenge side of the truck.

thanks guys i have another dog but he has alot of energy i cant let him out of his pen unless i watch him really close and he has to ride in the back of the bump

i still miss dober my first dog he was a bit on the crazy side he would hunt down rattle snakes

, Sorry to hear about your loss man. I know exactly how it feels to loose your favorite dog and we have lost our fair share of good pups over the years . At least she's moved on to a better place.

i feel your pain, I had a big english black lab named duke on christmas night his chain broke and he follow my brother truck out and got ran over. The guy that hit him was going 60 on a 35 mph road and driving a little toyata and busted his raditor and try to sue us for the raditor and the repair to his car and the judge told him to pay for duke. We got the money but that dont bring him back. I hit a old woman dog once and i told her how sorry i was and buried it for her and everything. This guy wanted us to give him money.

Sorry to hear about the loss if your family member, we lost Mollie last year and nothing feels the same. Time will help to ease the pain, but the memories are always there, hang in there.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog dying,my dog "Bo" pasted away 8 eight years ago and I still miss him. He looked like your dog,mostly Lab but he had Chow and Spitz mixed in. He was a stray that showed up on a very hot September day and laid down under my 68 Ranger to get some shade. He loved to ride in it,and his favorite place to go was Hardee's he loved their Biscut N Gravy. He was a good watch dog, he had a mean bark and growl. When he died we decided to have him creamated, it was rather expensive but worth it to us. We have him in a bronze dog house memorial on our book shelf.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Our Lab has been with us for 6 years now. I couldn't imagine him not coming to the door when I come home at night. Time will take some of your pain away, but the memories will be with you forever.

As I sit in front of the shop PC and type this. I look down at my Jack Russel Terrorist and think about your loss. I am so sorry for your loss. My Darla is probably the only reason I am alive today and that is not just talk. I have gone through a lay off and 3 ruptured, degenerated discs, surgery and the pain that goes along with that. plus depression etc.... . If it was not for her barking and raising hell at me to get up and throw the Frisbee or ball for her I probably would have laid down and died a long time ago. People without dogs can not understand the connection people and dogs can make.
I wish you the best. Go out and get you a brand spanking new puppy as soon as you can.
We lost 2 Australian Sheppards several years ago with in about 2 months of each other due to cancer and that is when I found a little runt of a female Darla. Best thing I ever did.
I always say I traded two birdhouses that I spent about 100 hours on for her. I sold them that morning and used that money to buy her. I would have sold my truck for her once we met. She has been my best friend for about 8 years now.
What I worry about is what is going to happen to me if something happens to her. Don't know if I could handle that at all.

as long as stay busy i don't think about her so much but when i don't i cant get her off my mind i haven't been sleeping the best lately either

I'm really thinking about getting a boarder collie my grandpa ted has one its a really smart dog but for now i will take wilbur on his daily run he just can't run around without me watching him

I've lost several dogs, but none I was as close to as Sisco a big male Akita I lost 1.5 years ago. Absolute best dog I could ever ask for. Smarter than some people I think. That dog went everywhere with me. In 3 years I bet we weren't more than 50 feet apart more than a few hours. Most of the stores, suppliers and customers I dealt with regularly actually asked me to bring him unleashed into thier stores and shops when I came in because he was so well mannered. He was never a wanderer, but something got him to wander out into the country road in front of my shop towards the end of a fall day and he was hit by a speeding car. I don't even want another dog after that. As bad as that sounds I just don't feel he could be replaced nor do I want to deal with that again.

Sorry to hear this Austin. From the pictures it's easy to see she was a sweatheart.
If you decide on a Border Collie, you will have an exceptional dog.
Go check out Youtube and search on Border Collies. Holy Doctorates Degree Batman! Those dogs are really smart!
In the mean time, you might try going to a real good trainer with the dog you have now.
When I adopted Super-Mutt, he was wild, dominant, and fear aggressive. He had been tormented and was close to being put down. Man what a handful. I went to a trainer who does police dog training, Shutzhund training, etc. Took us more than a year, but the difference is huge and the past 6 years has been awesome. Now he gets along with other dogs, loves people, and wont leave my eyesight (lest he miss the chance of getting a goodie ). He's turned into real good dog. And our bond is incredible, because of all the work we've done together.
I still remember every dog we've had since I was little. Good memories. Dog's are awesome!
