special forces ranger imposter in AK

Thought id pass it along. found on another ford site

http://georgiapacking.org/forum/viewtop ... =6&t=49635
So, I went to a gun show today with a friend of mine. We were in the mood for some deals, and in general just wanted to go play with some guns. :righton: When we get there we immediately notice an individual in ACU's. Since this is on Aug 7th, a Saturday, this came to us as being odd. So, my friend and I both being active duty NCO's start to eye ball this guy and notice his badges and awards. Before I list his extensive record let me describe this individual first. 30-40 yr old white male, approx 300 lbs, Blonde high and tight hair cut and a goofy overall appearance. He was wearing glasses on the back of his head, a belt on the outside of his ACU top full of gadgets and a radio with a hand mic wrapped around him self and clipped on his uniform.

I wanted a closer look at this guy so I told my buddy I would be right back and conducted some good ole fashion recon. He was at the polaris dealer talking to the sales rep about buying 4 quads "for his guys." I jumped in the conversation

Me: Jokingly "4! Can I have one!"
He chuckled and I asked him what unit he was in.

Him:"10th Special Forces."

Me: "Really? What are you guys doing up here?"

Him: "Oh Im just helping out some friends of mine"

I took note of all his uniform bits and pieces and walked away. He went about his business and I later confronted him again and asked him if I could talk to him outside. He and I walked out to the back of the gun show and I began to ask him a series of questions that only an individual with his experience would know. He failed miserably and I then decided to level with him. I produced my ID and asked for his. He told me it was in his car so I said lets go get it. Of course he did not have one and I began to lay into him. I yelled at him for a good 30 minutes and made him remove all the items he had never earned on his uniform. I called him plenty of names and said that he was wearing a uniform that my friends have died in, and that he didn't even deserve to touch one.

This guy began to apologize and back pedal, and asked me not to "tell on him." I began to tear into him and lower his self esteem even more hoping that he attempts suicide tonight.

All in all this is everything he lied about and what he was wearing:

Special Forces Qualification
Ranger Qualification
Airborne Qualification
Combat Infantryman Badge with 2 stars
Senior Parachutist Badge
Air Assault Badge
Military Police Badge
US ARMY Tape

and last but not least, Captain Rank.

Later people came up to me and told me what he had told others about himself:

He has served 20 yrs in the Army
He just came back from a 49 month deployment from Afganaland
He goes back and forth all of the time on "Special Mission"

His numbers referring to himself as an SF officer:

William Clark AKA "Capt Clark" see forum link

This number is a FT Bragg number, so he has wandered around SF land before to buy the phone
William Clark AKA "Maj Green" see forum link

Here are some iphone pics I took:
Its not right, i normally wouldnt pass these things along, but its no right what this scum is doing

Wow. Something I caught my step-brother doing. Not at a gun show, but similar situation. My step-father (his dad), was a marine, and unfortunatly, he passed away in '06, at the age of 46 (I"m going from memory, I laways forget how old he was cause he was really cool, seemed like on of us younger 20 year olds). So, out of resopect for my step-father, I took his BDU's, or ACU's, or whatever they were, his dress uniform, all his medals, his rifle, his sword, and I laid them in a big box, and sealed it up for my sister. Technically, she's my half-sister, but that doesn't matter to me. Shes family.

Anyway. I boxed ti up, all ncie and neat, and stored ti away for her, so she would have somehting of him when she got a little older.

Well, found out one day my brother was using the uniforms to get discounts, and tons of free stuff. I guess certain stores give you free stuff if your in the service? I don't know, I'm not a member. But, after I found out, I called up two of my close frineds who are MP's in the Marines. They live close to the base, so often, they take there MP vehicle home (these guys live next door to each other), and they came down in full uniform, stormin and stompin through the mall, and nabbed him. The color drained from his face, and these guys let him have it. First they acted like they were there to arrest him for AWOL, then after he admitted he wasn't a marine, in front of a large crowd of people, they laid into him like they were going to arrest him for imperrsonating a marine, etc.

He has never done anyhting like that again. He had to face several fears that day. And actually, i imagine he's lucky, cause he's on parole, and I think he would have been in big trouble if he had been arrested for that.

Still, it's bull people do that. I have my own BDU's and ACU's (whatever the term is for them), but there for paintball, or heavy work.

Back when I was in the Air Force we could not even where our Fatigues off base. We were allowed to stop at to get gas or pick up supper and that was it.
I don't see how anybody would believe that guy was active in any of our services looking like that. Air Force was known to have some heavy people but nothing like him.
He should have left that gun show with a fat lip and bloody nose at the least.
I think it is against the law to wear a military uniform when not in the service IF you have name, rank, ribbons or medals and any unit patches on it. Other words it has to be stripped.

Clint, that's exactly what mine are. Stripped. Well, they have rank patches on the arms, and callsign patches where the name would, go, but those are only worn for paintball. Otherwise, the rest are all blank. I agree with ya abotu how teh guy should ahve left though.

this is the second time i have heard of this. and i dont look for it. i just happen onto it. one story was from another site. that was link to this site. anway i dont get it. what is these people think they are gettign or doing. when playign dress up. isnt there soem sort of law against impersonating a member of the armed forces? impersonating an officer. if you were signed up. i know is bad. but really what are these dummies doing. why would you want to try to buy soemthing while dressed up. the armed forced get more ripped off than the rest of us when it comes to off base sales. dont worry just sign this and the payment will be automatically taken out of your pay. i seen that scam. well maybe not a scam. but the prices are inflated.

Yeah, I can see that. then again, if you use a false name and such, and it clears, and there supposed to take the payments out, but you go out of state, register the firearm, then I suppose that's a good dealf or ya then? I'm not a fan of ripping people off - whether it's price gouging or theft. I do not like it. Theft makes prices go higher for me if I want to buy something. But that is the only reason that I could come up with why he may have done it. The only other thing I got is he could be a sociopath, or have another brain malfuntion. Who knows, but if you follow that link that the O.P. put, you can go tthere as see a dozen or more links about this guy being caught in other places.

i didnt know he was trying to buy a weapon. why not call the cops on a person like this. i thought you could only buy a weapon in the state you live and walk away with it. if you live in another state the weapon had to be mailed to your state to a approved dealer and then you could pick it up from that dealer.

I was in the Army. Went to basic at Ft. McClellan, Ala. in June, 1980. Messed up my back REALLY bad and was home by the middle of August.
In the spring and summer of 1988, I was staying with my mom and step-dad in Kingsland-St. Mary's, Ga. There is a submarine base there, so there are lots of naval personnel around. I had my hair cut fairly short at that time. I was in the video store in St. Mary's one day and the clerk asked me if I was in the Navy. I said "No, but I was in the Army 8 years ago." He said "That's good enough for me! You get the military discount!" :)
The people down there were just wonderful. Hopefully that's still the case.
(P.S. While I was down there, I tried to re-enlist in the Army. Failed the physical. Too much loss of the low tones in my left ear.My temporary medical disqualification from 1980 had become permanent. :( )
But I'm still proud to say I volunteered and gave it my best.

It get's worse...
Our post Chaplain (American Legion) went to the local Wally-World a few weeks back, and out front was a group collecting money, posing as a Veteran's homeless advocate group. All nice neat white uniforms, and a big lock box for money.
When pressed by our Chaplain, they had no 501.c information, and started getting really sketchy. He walked in to talk with the Wally-world manager, and they were gone by the time he got out.

I think it's shameful to impersonate a military member, but it's flat out disgusting to rip off good Americans by impersonating a charity of any type.

A federal judge in Denver ruled last month that the Stolen Valor Act was unconstitutional. http://www.chieftain.com/news/local/art ... 002e0.html So you can buy medals on-line and say you were in the military and it is legal. This country has gone to H E double hockey sticks. Personally I think they should be shot for impersonating military or gathered up and taken to Afgahnastan and see how good of a military personnel they are.

I'm not a member, though have considered several times. It's not in me, and I know this. However, reguardless, I support all troops, casue without them, I don't get to do as I want over here (well, within whatever confines the state chooses to try to put on me as well), and I agree, people like this need to have some serious action taken against them. It's rather disturbing that this happens. And if this guy has been caught that many times, why has nothing been done?

In 12 years of serving with 47 months of those beating sand, and staring another 9 month deployment in the face I have strong opinion about this. Seeing as most of it has already been said I will leave it alone. My comment is on the law. I don't see how Colorado can't pass a law making it ok to do this. There is a federal law, somewhere that makes it a crime to impersonate in this manner.

I have never ran into anyone decked out as a "PX RANGER", i have however ran into people with there big tall tales about what they did and when. I can call a fake out in about 5 seconds with a simple question. "What base camp where you at?" I have gotten lots of answers, some honest and some not. I run into this more when I go home, and am far away from a military base. These people don't expect to have to answer to someone that actually knows what is going on. They feed off civilians that are just happy to be thinking they are doing there part or just thankful to be thanking a military person that they buy the idiots BS. There is a different side of me that comes out when I run into these people. The cowardliness to prey on the dwindling people that actually support us while not earning the right to even be put into the same class as me and all the other service members disturbs me. And by no means am I calling myself better than anyone else. There are jobs out there that I know I couldn't do,but I wouldn't stand in a bar and talk about how hard of a day I had as a high rise building maker. I know I couldn't do that job, I would rather go to Iraq than be that high off the ground, but I would never claim to be that type of person or hunt for unearned glory. Usually the guys that are bragging about all they have done and seen haven't done or seen nothing. They haven't stood at attention for a 21 gun salute, or tried to hold back the tears when the first not of taps cracks through your body, like a whip across the back. They haven't ever had the thought of wondering if this is there last breath, or would they ever see there loved ones again. Like I said a different side of me comes out when I run into these people. This really bothers me probably more at this point in time. I am 3-5 days out from stepping on a plain and going over there again. I am a firm believer that luck runs out and I should actually be sleeping right now. But I am up stressing about my mission, the guys that I am responsible for, and the families I have to answer to if I don't do everything perfect. An impostor has no idea what it is like to feel that type of pressure, and has never laid next to his wife wondering if these will be the last few days he will ever lay next to her again. An impostor hasn't ever set at a table with his kids playing sorry, wondering if this is the last memories they will ever have of there Dad. Needless to say this is a stressful time for me, and for some reason this whole thing pushed the go button. I will get off my soap box now.
