Well got some more work done i took one fender down to metal and found some more covered up rust. I blasted my f-600 instrument cluster and got it painted and put my guages in. Pics.

Got some more work done i got the front fenders patched and painted. I tell you what that orange paint was hiding some bad body work once again. I love how the guy just put filler right in the rust holes it took me a while on the fenders cause they were real bad. The more rust i patch the better i get. The first plus i had is when i pulled the windshield i was expecting to see rust but it is rust free. I am painting the truck in separate pieces then i will put it all together the start the process of weathering the paint so that it looks like the hood. This week i will get started on filling the holes in the dash.PICS

Well i am back on my project its been a long hot summer but i am fired up and back on track. I got most of the top of the dash done i just need to cut one more vent cover piece and do a little more welding then some filler. Then i will move to the front dash holes. Here is a pic of the dash.

I am soooo glad you decided to continue on with this project!!! I just came across a 69 Ranger in pretty good condition and I would like to do the front setup pretty close to yours. I cant wait to see how yours comes out!!

I got burnt out with all the rust i had to repair so i just stepped back and waited for cooler weather. I got the rest of the dash holes welded up this morning i just need to grind them then i can start the body work. I still have the passenger side floor to repair and the door jam has some cover up done so there is no telling what i will find. Once i get that finished the interior will be painted and the front cap can go back on hopefully.

How much of a drop do you think you got total from the beams and all the air out of the bags?

I think its around 7-8 inches thats with notching the crossmember.

My hood is rusted up front too, did you weld the seam up and then smooth it out?

MOst of the repair was close to the seam, i did small tack welds at the seam but didnt weld it solid. I used short hair fiberglass for the repairs then a thin coat of filler to finish it off.

You have done great work on that truck. Can I ask where you got it and if it came from East Texas? When I was young my Dads best friend had an Orange 68 flareside with a straight 6 and a standard. The grille was white on his though. He died and his son got the truck after that and I have not seen it since. Truck looks great, glad you picked back up on it. Ben

I got it here in louisiana but it was originaly red and the guy i got it from painted it orange. I will get back on the truck shortly.
