It's kind of like that thing on my sailboat (I sold it) that's called a boom and nobody knows why until they boom their head.

Seriously, I just replaced the 300 straight six in my '67 stepper about a month ago, including a Duraspark with MSD ignition and .054 spark gap, Hedman headers, Offy 360 intake, and Holley 670. Over the first three weeks I spent about an hour under the hood every night tuning and re-tuning everything - fuel mixture, idle speed, accelerator pump, timing, choke, spark gap, etc. About the only thing I haven't set is the fast idle, but so far I'm not too worried about that. I start the truck at 0530 through the week and it cranks up on the first revolution without giving it any gas. It even stays running smooth without pumping the pedal, and it's been 45 degrees lately (cold for Las Vegas). I'm pretty please with how well I got the truck running so far, but that definitely didn't come to fruition without a few trips under the hood, and of course a few cuts to the same exact spot on my scalp. Every time I did it it pi$$ed me off so bad I about lost it.
I haven't been under the hood all week so far, but I know that hood latch is just waiting for me - with a hairy piece of scalp to remind me of the perils of my carelessness.

67 F-100 Flareside, 300, Offenhauser 360, Holley 390, Duraspark and MSD ignition, NP-435 4-speed, 3.55 Dana 60, and it will absolutely roast 30" rear tires taking off in 2nd (the one time I tried scared the Bejeezus out of me)

. It was my grandfathers truck since new then when deer season came in this year he passed it on to me since he has his F-150 to use. So it has been our hunting truck/back up vehicle since we got it, and when I get my license it will probably split DD duty with the '71 since it gets just a few more MPGs and it's got 4x4 for hunting season, and the beach during the summer

, If I had to pay for a newer truck than the F100 it would've been an F-150, As a matter of fact I was planning on saving up for a slab-side w/ an I6/5speed and 4x4 over the summer. But so far the Chevy has been an okay hunting truck, only had one issue w/ a pretty bad PS leak and got it fixed so no issues with it yet other than that and it gets through the mud a little bit better since it's got 33"s and the F100s got car tires that are just about bald

But seriously... I've owned two Chevy trucks. A 1950 and a 1974. Wasn't anything wrong with them at all. In fact, all of my trucks had the same common problem. . . .

, They aren't too bad and at least they are American made. Still prefer my F100 though.Side note: Power-steering that needs re-bled is a lot harder to use than manual steering
. Changed the hose a little while back and bled the power-steering pump, then I get in the truck this afternoon to drive down to the field we hunt at to put out some corn and check the trail cam, power-steering was pretty much non-existent when the truck wasn't rolling 
. Now I've either got another small leak in the PS I didn't see, or somehow the air showed back up in the system, either way time to re-bleed it .Casey
