Best Shop and Repair Manuals?
Hi all, I have a '67 F100 and am having a heck of a time getting her back on the road. I have a set of Haynes manuals and they are no help to me. What repair/shop manuals do y'all reccommend? The CD-ROM manuals look interresting? Thanks!

Order a reproduction of the factory manual, or ebay a used one. Haynes and Chiltons quite honesty suck. They tell you what to do, just not how to do it. CD-ROM's are ok but are a real pain to use on a greasy job.
Of course you could also just post your questions up on the engine section and we can guide you through the fixes.

Thanks Jamie, Are the CD-ROMs digital versions of the factory manual or something else?

i'd go with a paper one and not the cd. that way you dont have ot run back and forth to the computer when you need to know one littl ething or checka picture they have on there.

I got my manual on CD from Detroit Iron. It's just scanned from the original Ford service manuals. Good, complete information and all the specs you'll ever want to know but the index leaves a little to be desired. Kind of hard to find something specific. If I had it to do over again, I'd get it on paper instead of CD.

Well I bought the Ford licenced 1967 F100 CD - mostly cause it was $25 on ebay - I hope it can provide the info I need - if not my poor old truck's days are numbered...

I'd make a copy of that CD and keep it at work...then also get the paper version.
It's very handy to have both.

i picked up a chiltons manual that covers everything from ford chevy & dodge all the way to jeep and international ( and heavy trucks) from 61 - 71 way back when- pretty much useless, but an interesting read
as for haynes manuals, they're only good for wiring diagrams and torque specs
- still got my first first car 20+yrs later : 69 f100 sorta kinda pretending its a Mercury M100 w/a 70 f350 sport custom cab (factory buckets) 67 grille with 69 ranger cooneyes 68 merc box and hood, some supercool fiberglass fenders i scored way back when, 76 f150 disc brake frontend..currently running a 90 5.0HO 4bbl/c4 auto & 3.50 posi...originally a 360/c6 f100 Ranger with dealer added towpack (incl. kelsey hays trailer brake),boxside toolbox, behind the seat stowage & belly tank...only original parts left on 'er are the frame, rear end, rear springs, and rear bumper...

I did that 2 years ago. It was well WORTH it. I know it can be a pain not having the paper version, but what I usually do is print out the pages that apply to the job I am going to be doing and use those prints while working under the truck. That way I can get the prints all greasy and just throw them away when the job is done. Kinda nice.Forge wrote:Well I bought the Ford licenced 1967 F100 CD - mostly cause it was $25 on ebay - I hope it can provide the info I need - if not my poor old truck's days are numbered...
