Celebrated to soon...

Post by ford4x4fun »

Found out I just got extended for an unknown period of time... Kinda disappointing, more so for the family vacation I had planned, and time I will miss with my son that I only get in the summers...

There is going to be one heck of a party when you do come home (hopefully sooner than later).
A good buddy of mine was a Marine in WW-II, he was telling me about his "tour of the Pacific". Every time they thought they'd get a break, they'd be wisked off to some new battle. He was in some pretty tough battles.
He was so happy to get home. Ask him what he's most proud of, and he'll tell you in earnest... his family. They were his drive to come home. Pretty humble and happy guy for all he saw.
You remind me of him.

Keep it tight, and we'll all have something to party about when you get back. :woohoo:

I feel for you. Just about every time I was deployed my ship got extended 1, 2, 3, times or more. It sucks, but you will overcome, and you will make it home. Our thoughts, and prayers are with you and yours. John

Fordman,

I would love it if life was that simple, but when your trying to get your Parents and Siblings all in one spot, and they all have Jobs and are strung out over 4 different states, you have to make plans. That and in all honesty not sure how much longer I am going to have time to make plans with my parents. So even though they got postponed, and will probably be changed again I will continue to make plans.

Happy Camper,

Yeah it will be one heck of a shin-dig when I get home. And yeah my family is my driving force, it is the only thing I have been really good at, being a good dad and husband. I know just enough about cars to break stuff, no just enough about my job to keep things running, and have just enough common sense to keep things from getting completely out of control. But when it comes to being a Husband, Father, Son, Brother nothing comes before that.

John,

That seems to be my luck as well, I came to this unit because they only do 6 month deployments, and here I sit at month 10 with no end in site. I just have never had the ability to weasel my way out of a deployment, and I guess pride gets in the way of me ever complaining to my command. Before this deployment I was home for 14 months, my deployment before that was 16 if only my number came up this often when I played the lottery.

Pride says I get the job done that is why I keep getting these missions. Common sense says I get taken advantage of for not being a dirt bag.

man, you have done your job. if there is any way you can get the f out of there just do it.
i do understand your sense of mission. i have friends that have walked that path and even though i have never done so (i should shut my mouth) i still say there is a time to say "uncle" and start thinking about you and not "your guys". i just hope everything works out for you in the right way. keep your head down over there and know that we really do appreciate what you do.
