Haven't really been on in a while lately between getting ready for finals, fishing and keeping the "other" truck going . But have been spending quite a while fishing lately, went trolling for Spanish this last weekend actually and am planning on going out again either tomorrow or Sunday as the water will be even warmer this weekend. Last weekend we caught 6 Spanish altogether (Knew it was early but the water was pretty warm, hopefully they'll be there this weekend) with 3 guys in the boat and too many Blues to count, was curious on just how well you guys that fish have been doing out there as far as fishing goes and just wanted to kinda say hello since it's been a while .

Well Casey, since I live in the middle of the desert and the nearest body of water to me is my coffee cup, the only thing I can catch here is either a cold or tumble weed or both. I'm jealous, sure do miss wetting a line...

What's a "Spanish"? I went fishing yesterday. Caught 3 bass and 7 bluegills. The water has hit spawning temperature so the fish have..... "other activities" on their minds right now!
They don't bite too well when they're on the spawning beds.

Whats a spanish ? I seem to always be able to catch some catfish in the creek, even if the creek freezes over. Drop a cinder block to knock a hole and drop in a line and can have one in 30 minutes on a bad day. Went out in the river last saterday from 6 am till 2 pm and cought 6 crockers between 3 people, wasnt a good day for fishing LOL.

Used to catch Sheephead, and a shark now and then when the ship would go dead in the water for swim/fish call. Now I do some trout, stripper, and salmon fishing. I enjoy going fishing catch em or not. Sometimes it is not easy, but if it were easy it would be called catching instead of fishing.

It's been way too windy on my days off to even consider fishing. I talked to my son yesterday, he was testing out a boat he's looking at buying. He said they did a little fishing before the wind kicked up. Said he had a 48" tiger muskie up to the boat, then lost it.
As for me, my fishing tackle think I have divorced it.

, I couldn't stand living that far away from the water. Yea, nothing better than being out there fishing. If you're ever around here we'd be more than happy to take you out on the boat and do a little fishing.

Spanish as in Spanish Mackeral, a very tasty saltwater fish . Usually we catch 'em trolling with spoons or plugging. Not bad at all! You do mostly freshwater fishing I take it? I seem to do better in the ocean . Glad you had a good day fishing though, it's always nice to go fishing even better when you catch something.

Catfish seem to be the one species of freshwater fish I have some luck with . There's a small creek that runs through the woods at the back of my neighborhood full of 'em. Don't feel too bad, my dad and I went out on the river the weekend before last drifting for flounder. After about 8 hours we caught 1 Blue and a very small perch . In the river it always seem to be hit or miss around here. When you get into a good spot you catch them all day long, other days you go home with an empty cooler/live well. Glad you got a chance to go out and do some fishing though .

That sounds like fun, the Sheephead at least. It seems that with sharks we always end up losing the line (probably a good thing though if it's strong enough to break braided line). I wish there were more spots for that kinda fishing around here, I've always wanted to go Salmon fishing. I'd have to agree with you on that, I really like the experience whether or not I ever get to reel anything in or not. It's nice to just sit out there and forget about things. , Right you are! Exactly what my Grandpa always says when anyone complains about nothing biting .

Maybe you'll get lucky here shortly and catch a calm day to toss a line out in the water . I know how you feel though, it seems that everyday when I want to go fishing during the week and go, it's too windy and I end up back in the truck headed home. Good luck to your son with getting a new boat. , That stinks. At least he got it in close enough to see what it was. , I'm sure your fishing tackle will forgive you when you get a chance to go fishing sometime on a day off. If all else fails pick a calm day to take off work and take the bump out to the lake/river/wherever and go fishing .

I've had my boat out twice this year. Last year it was on the lake at least once a weekend.
We have caught several nice catfish though. That's about all I fish for anymore. And like everywhere else, it's just too danged windy. I usually don't mind until time to load the boat. Sure glad nobodys ever videotaped that.
My wife won't let me go by myself anyway since I've got back and neck injuries. So I have to wait til she's off or my buddy isn't busy.

Yeah, but that's cuz... well... we ain't got no ocean in Lincoln, Nebraska!
Maybe if I ever get back down to SC, I'll give you a holler and you can show me how to fish in the ocean!

Been out once, river isn't much fun when the guage reads over 2' and it hasn't been below 5 this month, dang near flooded twice. Pretty sure the spawn in 'F'd this year...

My little river rocket, been building it for the last three years.

, Glad to hear it! Wish there was more freshwater around here for me to do some bass fishing, I'm usually limited to small mouths in little ponds around here. It must've felt nice to ditch work and go out on the water . That's pretty quick, 45-50 seems like morph speed to me in a boat .

That's not too bad at all, yesterday was the 3rd time we went out except we ended up just going wakeboarding/tubing in the river all day rather than fishing. Nothing wrong with just fishing for catfish, not much can beat the taste of a fried cat fish . Yea not much any of us can do about the wind and I know exactly how you feel . My grandfather's in the same boat (no pun intended ) he's had a few back injuries as well and only goes out in his boat if he's got someone with him. As long as you're still able to get out there and have some fun .

Wow, sounds like you guys have got a bit too much water up there and yea you're probably right. I remember looking at that boat from a link in one of your posts. I went to the forum and read through the build, it really is something else . How fast have you clocked it? I'd imagine that Jon-boat scoots along pretty quick being jet powered .

As for me, no fishing this weekend unfortunately. But we went out Saturday wakeboarding/tubing just messing around in the river and might be going out again tomorrow to do the same for a little while.
