Re: The chronicles of Lou, An exhausting day...
Thanks guys, been doing a seven on at work so the truck just sits and gets rained on. I started making a new welding bench to sit where my lathe is, hope to have it finished this weekend.

Very nice build, Jamie!
If I will ever swap another engine in my bump, I would probably also go Cummins. These are very good engines and also get decent gas mileage. My Dad has a 6BT in his Bluebird bus. We just changed filters and oil on it yesterday and started it up again for the first time after winter.

Re: The chronicles of Lou, An exhausting day...
Life... Redid my pond because one of the neighbor's dogs jumped in last fall and knocked all the plants into one big clump in the bottom and they grew together this spring... Doubled the size of the pond and gave away a whole crap load of plants. I still have nine water lillies and a bunch of reeds taking off in their own pots again. Lost a bunch of fish after the transfer, they spawned themselves to death. The trex decking came from a friends house and I got the EPDM roofing liner from a neighbor. The pavers I had stacked up by the garage for the last three years and I wanted to put my smaller welding table out there so they got installed. Still need to cut the angles (maybe today). So no cost, just about 40 hours of labor. Dug it out with the baby skid loader, it's 18x8x3 now. The kids swam in it the first two daysHemmi06 wrote: What's Happening?
I did clean out the garage, cut out one of the big wall mount benches and put the lathe back there. Lots of room to work now. I have a firends '70's International Cub Cadet pulling tractor in here now. Spent yesterday making a new frame mount for the 16hp engine. It has aluminum wheels and wheelie bars too. Rebuilt and adjusted two Husqevarna chainsaws for my brother yesterday and ran around getting the AC fixed on my dad's '91 Mustang coupe. Been fishing a bit too and of course work sucks up half the week.
I should be back on the truck next week once I get caught up a bit

Nice pond !! - I keep koi and have a fairly decent size pond too !
It feels good when you have worked really hard - but look back and see all the jobs you accomplished in a short time !
Good for You !

Re: The chronicles of Lou, An exhausting day...
Ok, finishing up another seven on, this one ends four months of night shift. Got a nastygram from the city last week so I need to work on the truck a bit to make it presentable, look drivable etc. Today I hope to get the prep work done, move junk all over the place and bring the tow truck back up to the house to pick the cab. On the list is pick the blue cab off so I can finish fabbing the break and fuel lines, then reset the cab. Next remove the yelow cab and ship it to the farm to go on the old blue trucks 6.9l F250 frame. Then lift the rear of the 350 and swap out the axle for some Sterling with 3.55 and posi (I think). Then some where in there get some inner fenders and a hood bolted on along with most of the grill and maybe a bumper. Finally set the bed back on the truck.
All summer I've been tinkering with my Seadoo powere bass boat and enjoying it on my days off. Now with cooler weather I'm back in truck mode.

Ok, six hours later and the shed is cleaned, the cart is moved and I have a tow truck sitting out back. I'm whooped so I'm going to bed until the kids get off school, then it's cab swapping time...

Re: The chronicles of Lou, An exhausting day...
Yippee, got rid of the cab, it's down at the farm sitting on the other frame backwards and didn't suffer too much during the trip. I'm going try and get the rear swapped in the morning or at least try to get the U bolts loose or order replacements from the spring shop. Then once the rear is swapped that can get loaded in the ranchero to go to the farm along with the 527 tranny and other misc bits I don't need up here. Then I hope to have the cab off and sitting on my outside welding table so I can get the tranny lines fabbed.
Maybe I'll remember to take some pics tomorrow...

Re: The chronicles of Lou, The big push to get something done...
Ok, still pushing. Woke up at 5:00, outside before sunup. Put my boat away, then got the cab moved back on the frame followed by lifting the frame and eventually getting the rear out. I managed to remove most of the U bolt nuts but still ended up cutting three of them to get the axle out of the way. New axle is in, 3.55 non posi according to the tag. It's about 100lb heavier than the Dana 70 too. One of the brake drums is frozen and the E brake cables were torched so I get to go in there too eventually. I'm off to get some U bolts...
