ways to make money

Post by fordman »

i found out tonight that i may be able to make a few cents per video i post on you tube. so i may start making videos of how to do certain things on our trucks. then when someone asks how do yo uadjust the nss i can post a link to a video i made and maybe i willl get a penny for every person who watches. if my videos are liked by the advertizers. what do you think. it would atleast help forum members. if nothing else. but my vioce over recording video sounds wimpy.

Knowing nothing about it, it initially sounds like a great idea. I just hope, for your sake, there are no hidden issues that will come back and bite you. Call me suspicious...

I think anything that you can do to bring in extra $$$ is great...you're a good guy and deserve it.

Good evening Fordman!

I think that's a fabulous idea, and I'd have lots of fun watching any of your videos.

While we're on the topic of creating things, perhaps an even greater idea would be for you to write a book, which could be a unique combination: autobiography and Bumpside repair manual. You're such a well-known and liked guy on here, I know that if you wrote a book like that, lots of guys including myself would buy a copy and get a lot of enjoyment out of it! "How to Repair a Bumpside, with Fordman," or "The Life and Times of Fordman, including Bumpside Repair Bonus material." "Chapter 6: How Fordman Discovered Bumpsides," and "Chapter 7: Fordman's Bumpside Philosophy" immediately come to mind!!!

i considered a book. but that may be more than i can produce right now. here is a crappy video i just took with my cell phone. it includes my vice which isnt a good voice for producing videos of. the picture i took is better as a still just straight uploaded. rather than videod from my computer moniter. go ahead and atleast hear my vioce. it gives information abou ta truck i no longer have anyway. and i can always delte the video later. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLKCLHm6cLs

Cash flow on Youtube is difficult. You need thousands of views per month to get a banner ad in your video. You can also become a partner with advertisements before the video plays but that takes talent, lots of subscribers and lots of views.

Your voice-over voice is okay...good enough, and I teach that stuff. You need a good camera that will do stills and video, and a good mike. Just look at Max Warynski's old outboard stuff on the Web...the global printing press equipped with all the AV goodies. Don't know much about publishing on the outlet sites like Youtube...lots of good/fun stuff there, but that's a huge library to go through.

well i setup to make my first offical professional parts testing video. but the part i had was bad. so the video didnt happen. basically i was going to show how to test a part off of the truck using a 12 volt power supply. just how to run the wires and to which prongs. but i did get the blade on my lawn mower fixed.

I too think a book would be a great idea  nothing better then reading a page or two on the crapper at work :hd: Im a huge jeep fan an i found that this book for the XJ model would be the best to model a Bump side book after if you havnt seen this book at your book store, check it out for referece its great an tells you EVERYTHING youll ever need to know about this Jeep model. http://www.amazon.com/High-Performance- ... 438&sr=8-1   an a youtube video start up would be a great way to start up an see how well it would go then look into a book later down the road. An since im a huge fan of researching everything im interested in a good size book on my shelf would be kick ass 8) 8) You have my support for sure man

Nothing wrong with your recording voice at all, Craig. Actually, it sounds "old school" just like the truck in your video. Shoot, at 22,728 (and growing) posts you've practically already written a book. Stop at any grocery checkout counter and look at all those little 30 page books for sale for $1.99. You don't have to write a novel, just a few pages on a decent subject with a grabber title. A friend and I have often discussed writing a book titled "DIY gone wrong, the hard way". It'd be a collection of stories about the terrible and destructive mistakes we've made while we "fixed" or "remodeled" things. My contributions include ripping out the front wall of my garage pulling an engine, ripping a shelf off the wall in a closet while trying to climb up into the attic access to get to the eave and hang a baby swing on the porch and flipping my riding lawn mower upside down while blowing grass off the road after mowing. All should have been "no-brainer" jobs but due to my own clumsiness and stupidity turned into destructive and life endangering episodes. All you have to do is air your own stupidity. Laugh at yourself and the world laughs with you...all the way to the bank!

i had just checked up on my video views. i have 65 so far. the us canada australia have been the first ones to view so far. i now have views from mexico and someplace in south america. i may not do a book. what i may produce is a cd if i produce anything. the ages of the video viewers have been from 18-35 and 65 and over so far. those statistics aren't always available though. just page views and where they come from as well as links to where they came from. mostly here. but i have got a few views from you tube searches. what i need are more videos . and then have these videos uploaded to a cd as well as other technical information to the cd to complete the video such as wiring diagrams and other tips tricks and so forth. i don't know if i have the tech info to do a cd though. figuring out the software and programs to use are what i need to get the video process started though. my vioce sounds real when listening to it from my phone. it sounds weak on the video.
