Funny Vin Plate

Post by KRob »

Hey guys, i am double posting this so it gets some exposure, it comes off of the welcome mat, titled Oregon/Germany or something like that.

I am looking at purchasing a 71 Bump, unfortunetly i cant see it in person and relay on my father a none car guy to go look at...well hes already looked at it but the guy wasn't there so he didnt get to drive it....anyway i digress. This is the picture of the vin plate that he sent me, it doesn't look like the one in the tech guide and even though i have played with the contrast ect, i cant get any of the blocks to show anything. Anyway what are your guys thoughts. Thanks KRob

Also here is a picture of the truck, from my understanding the wet spot is from some water, and not a aftermarket paint job.

What you guys think?

Once again thanks

What you need is a picture of the plate on the drivers door

It should look like this

F25YRH*****
131 2 F253 64 F C8
06100 170 4100 75

Once you get that go here

http://www.fordification.com/tech/VIN71.htm

The body looks great, a gallon of compound, polishing compound and a good wheel should make it come to life :D

Here is what mine looked like

That looks like the vin sticker from inside the driver's door frame, but why the other boxes are blank, I dont know. I have the same sticker but I believe I have info in my other boxes

:yt: And I've also seen the VIN "decals" letters/numbers fade from abrasive cleaners.
Maybe go for the frame numbers instead?

its a 71 F250 4wd with a 360 engine. the door plate will tell more. plus it needs to be driven and check out in person. before buying anything.

Thanks for the information. I had already looked up the vin from the tech portion. I am going to ask him if he can send me a picture of the other data plate but if not im not going to get bent out of shape. My father is going to go look at it this weekend, so we shall see.

Fordman, i am in complete agreance that i would rather see it in person however... i am on the other side of the world right now.

Mr. Majestyk, that is one incredible improvement just from a wash and wax.

Thanks for all the replies.
