I'm one of the weird people that get so used to hearing the songs done in the studio I usually don't like them live so I've been to few concerts. I did see Heart back in the late 80's early 90's and they were great. Saw a Christian Rock band several years ago called 3rd day. They had two sets of drums and were LOUD but great! I think I was about the oldest one there except for the 350lb sweety jumping up and down beside me like she was on a pogo stick. Knocked back into my seat several times and laughed about it. lool

cdeal, 3rd day's great! I'm into them, Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, Michael W Smith and host of others now.

NC70bump, I respect a man who'll own up to seeing Air Supply. Even if you didn't know they'd be playing, you stayed through it, secure in your manhood.

Been to few.. But missed a few too.. IE: I've never seen Rush yet..
Probably the best single concert I went to was the Texxas Jam in the
Cotton Bowl in 1979..
Saw TKO, Sammy Hagar,Nazareth, Van Halen, Heart, Boston and
Blue Oyster Cult in that order all at one concert. Lasted pretty much
all day. As I recall, it was about getting dark when Boston came on..
Van Halen kicked butt back then.. They had just released the 2nd
album I think at that time.. I've also seen Van Halen and Van Hagar
both in the Summit at different times. The first around the time
of "Diver Down", and Van Hagar when they were doing the "Live
without a Net" tour.. Almost the same exact show as the DVD..

Probably some of the best shows I've seen were various Eric Johnson
shows back when he played various local joints like Rockafellers.
Also saw him at Tower theater once, and the last time I saw him
was at the Continental Club, which is a small joint, and we were
off to the side of the stage. That was about four or so years ago
I guess... It was so loud I ended up having to stick pieces of napkins
in my ears to stop the bleeding.. chortle..

But even at the volumes that buoy likes to play at, he always has
great tone. What's good about those small venues is I'm a few
feet away from him, vs a few hundred feet away like most of the
big venues. And naturally, I've seen ZZ a few times being they are
local buoys.. I even snatched up one of Gibbons peso picks when
they were playing a club opening on Richmond back in the 80's..
He dropped it on the floor, and didn't bother to pick it up..
Grabbed it up.. And I've used it a few times.. Has a metallic
twang to it..
I spit out this weird pseudo Eric Johnsonish sounding thang using
that pick several moons back..

Man that pick's a unique piece of rock history! I remember that Texas Jam. It was all we talked about for months. Made big plans to go and of course we never made it due to a chemically induced lack of motivation and initiative . But we talked about it!

13Q AM Radio sponsored a free concert in McKeesport, PA around 75 and America was the headliner John Sebastion was there too.

Legend Valley Jam in Ohio out near Columbus 78 or 79 maybe?
Pure Prairie League, The Outlaws, Molley Hatchet, Mcguffy Lane , Allman Brothers maybe 38 Special?

Ted Nugent opened for Black Sabbath at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh, saw Black Sabbath three times there. They used to open the roof at concerts and you could watch the smoke just pour out!

One of the best sounding concerts was Boston(their first album just came out) opened for Journey at the Leona Theater a small place in Homestead, PA (not there any more, it's a convenience store)

one of my first was the Beach Boys... 1964. Step brother took me. Black Sabbeth in 72,( kinda fuzzy for some reason) I Drug a couple of my buddies to see ZZ Top, on the Fandango tour. I was in Omaha at the time, and they had NO idea... Top came out & blew thru LaGrange in what seemed like 37 seconds. Place was stone quiet for a minute... then all hell broke loose. Heartsfield in '74 was great, college in Minnesota. Ozark Mountain Daredevils in '75, sat between two groups of "smokers" another fuzzy memory...

It's really hard to remember the 70's for some reason......

First time I saw .38 Special, in '81 I think, they were just a bunch of "Wild Eyed Southern Boys", smoking and swigging Jack Daniels on stage, long scraggly hair, jeans, flannel shirts, just a wild bunch and royally kick a$$. Couple of years later, when the 2nd album came out in '84(?), they had $1000 cowboy boots, Miami Vice Don Johnson style blazers, pleated slacks and professionally styled hair, etc. Ted Nugent was their warm up act. Ted came out to the crowd screaming and blasted out over the mike...."I really 'preciate you people from Shreveport Louisiana comin' out to support me seein' as how .38 Special done rated me down to a F---ING WARM UP BAND!.....LET'S ROCK AND ROOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLL!" and then he hit Great White Buffalo wide open. He rocked us for about an hour and then went into Stranglehold. As he started into that solo where he kinda tones it down and just he plays, he went on with it for about 10 mins, then the drummer got up and walked off the stage, then the bassist, then the backup guitar, one at a time about 5 mins apart until only he was left. He kept going another 10 mins and they turned the lights on. And he still kept playing and playing until his band mates came back on stage and bodily removed him, still playing. It was awesome! After that .38 Special was a weak bar band. The Motor City Madman ruled the night!

I have been to a few shows over the years and I still catch one now and again. There is an amusement park in town that has a show every Saturday night in the summer and you get the show free with admission to the park.

I had plans to see quite a few but never made the ones I really wouldlike to of seen like Pink Floyd. But my list is:

Tried to go to ZZ Top but it snowed the night before and the day of and had to drive 180 miles.... long story... didn't make it. Still have the ticket though.
Arlo Guthrie 3 times, pretty good
Cheech and Chong in Vegas in 2008, they sucked way funnier when I was younger
A couple of no name bands and a Christian Rock but can't remeber their name.
