Junk Yard Trip (PICS)

Post by FordTruck »

I went to a junkyard today called John's Auto Salvage in Cabool Mo. This place was HUGE!!! Me and my dad walked it for over 3hrs and didn't even see half of it. The old guy and his son they run it and are really nice guys to deal with. I went there lookin for a steering column found a few but this place is so huge and has lots of trucks and old iron. I didn't get many pictures but I plan on making a trip back soon to walk around and take more.
All the pictures are here

Good evening FordTruck,

GREAT photos, thanks for posting them! There are definitely some ghosts haunting that place on moonlit nights. What a scene!

That's my kind of junkyard right there!!! AWESOME pictures and beautiful scenery. Hope you get to go back as many times as you can and I hope you find all the parts you need. Makes me itching to go junkyard hunting again.

Looks like my driveway.
Everytime I wander around in a junkyard like that, I always look at the cars/trucks and think "that was once brand new" and I try to picture what it was like.

That's an awesome yard! I may have to plan a trip to get down there some day. I think I spy an early Scout in the first pic on the left side. I looked at you whole folder on photobucket and that 2 door Galaxie almost looks to be worth saving. That international ambulance is cool too! My problem is every time I go to a yard like that it's like taking a kid to the pound. I just want to take one of them home!

Looks like if it's still open around tax time i need to visit Cabool. should only be a 1 1/2 to 2 hr drive from poplar, unless i can find some good yards here. That one looks like a yard in miami,ok only bigger and closer to me now.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

There is quite a few scouts and the truck they use to run around the place is a scout  and an old IH pickup that i wanted. The place is almost like torture cuase there's so much stuff and awsome cars just not enough money. The awsome part is he will sell the whole car or truck and most he has titles for!

God that reminds me of growing up in Missouri, about an hour south of St Louis. There were still lots of junkyards with old iron like that in the 1980s when I was in high school and first started driving. You don't see many old school yards like that now though.
Old skool fool....
