I always wanted to get one of the first-gen Focus wagons (ZXW?) and drop the SVT engine and 5-speed into it. The only SVT Focus was a two-door.1969FordMan wrote:I have never much cared for gunmetal, but on the new Focus it looks pretty dang good. Especially with black rims. Im not much on hatchbacks, though the Focus is one of the best looking ones out there. I like my little sedan, but its so stripped down its almost pitiful. Its the S. doesnt even have cruise control.
LOVE the bump, hope to one day have a 4x4 bump myself.
What you got in the Mopar department? They arent too bad, better than Chevys. My dad has a 2011 HEMI crewcab, he gets 24mpg at 65mph.

Its a typo, I meant a 1969 sportsroof. Im not the greatest typist in the worldcrazyhorse wrote:I"m not a wise but you will have a hard time finding a "60 mustang fastback". I don't think they made mustangs in 1960.
I like your truck and dedication to these old Fords.
Good luck .

I dream of a 69 powered by a 427 SOHC

Actually after I finish the 69 F100s freshening up I wan tto locate another 67-72 and build it for daily driving, disc front brakes, AC, power steering, 302 and AOD auto. Much better fuel mileage and handling in town. Probably find a truck thats in bad shape, my 69 is almost all original except for a trans swap. I prefer to just preserve her. but she isnt friendly for in town driving, I measure fuel consumption in GPH (gallons per hour) LOL
1969 F100. All factory 360, 4-speed, candy apple red one owner. Incredible truck!

sounds like you live in a liberal infested area. i like the old stuff, but i do enjoy going outside in any weather rain shine, hot, cold. my fuel injected vehicles start up and GO without any warm up and they adjust themselves so all i ever have to do is maintenance. i'll probably never own a gas guzzling true american made vehicle again thanks to a certain president1969FordMan wrote:I have a passion for old things. Im only 24, but I adore my old truck and aspite to redore many more before my life is over. I just cant describe the excitement I have when I start planning out work for my 1969 F100. I aspire to own a hi-boy bump or a 4x4 dent, a 48-50 F1, a 60 mustang fastback, and to build my 68 mustang coupe. its a big list im sure will never be filled, but I will work on it. Seems like lately at times I havebeen met with hostility when I bring up my trucks. "WHY DO YOU SCRAP THEM AND GET SOMETHING NEW???" and "THOSE OLD TRUCKS OUGHT TO BE OUTLAWED!!!" and "WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU EVEN WANT THAT????" seems like everyone wants to ride in a new Z71, or King Ranch, or Lone STar edition. Its all about new stuff. People seem so eager to scrap old cars and trucks. Its so sad to me. I ADORE my old F100, and my F150. These old bumps ar so beautiful, and user friendly.
Yeah, it may not get the mileage your truck does, or ride as smooth, but when your truck is in the shop for $2,000 worth of transmission repair, or keeps popping odd check engine codes, my F100 will still be a chugging along. When you cant even find your dipstick, I can rebuild my FE over the weekend. I get so sick of guys that literally cant change their own oil, lecturing me about my "junky old peice of crap"
Just needed to vent, I know the guys here understand the attachement to these trucks and other vintage vehicles. I love them dearly. I plan to drive my 69 F100 daily after I move closer to work and get her restored. I keep my 94 because it was my great grandpas last truck, and he wanted me to have it. Between the two Im set, but I always have room for anoteher bump.
A 67-72 has always been my dream truck. I used to salivate over them at little auto shows I would get to go to as a kid. Something about the vintage body, chrome accents, rumble, just got a hold of my heart! NOTHING can replace the feeling of slamming down the gas and letting an old FE white smoke the tires! I fell in love with my FE after getting my 69. Most people dont get it.
*I do also have a 2012 Ford Focus 2.0/5-speed that gets 36-42 mpg depeding on how I drive, so I save gas, but its just transportation, my heart will forever belong to vintage Fords*

Mr Fordman, I agree with you.
As for me, those 427 motors would a whole lot of vehicles look good.

Honestly my 69 bump starts every time, she can be a little cranky at first, but she always starts. Snow, rain, cold, humid, dry, hot, no matter what she starts right up. Now my 95 5.0 EFI is much more fuel efficient.sounds like you live in a liberal infested area. i like the old stuff, but i do enjoy going outside in any weather rain shine, hot, cold. my fuel injected vehicles start up and GO without any warm up and they adjust themselves so all i ever have to do is maintenance. i'll probably never own a gas guzzling true american made vehicle again thanks to a certain president

Re: Some people just dont understand the passion........
The passion for the old bumps and dents has wore off a lot for me but I still like them. I personally wouldn't do a resto on one of these trucks for financial reasons but they are good trucks. I use mine as a work truck and it does well.

here is an old bump I saved from being crushed. It runs and drives but i doubt I will do anything with it, I just didn't want to see it crushed.

My passion about my 71 F100...
Great classic looks
Stock 240/3 on a tree,
Fun to drive
All original
Stock bench seat is comfortable with a torn up lower back as apposed to a new truck which is brutal on my back...
Easier to get in and out of without a ladder
Long bed, put allot of stuff in it.
40 year old 200lb steel tool box
No power windows to go out
No power seats to go out
No power steering
Handy power drum brakes
Cool floor vents
Cool radio delete plate. (Bring my RadioShack radio)
The exhaust leak with the inline six usually drowns out the radio and everything else when it hit's 50 anyways...
With low gears, 60 is about as far as I wanna push it. I wave people around on the highway.
I can stand in the engine bay and freak people out on the holidays
It has some rust and scratches on it
Simple to work on for the most part, parts are cheap and don't need to hook my laptop to it
The spare is an old tube type spare
With manual steering and three on a tree, the best theft protection money can buy.
Knock on wood...
Down side is getting tires. Gotta put it up on blocks and take the wheels to get tires mounted. Don't trust tire places when they think it's an automatic with an extra pedal with a bad power steering pump and rolls out in the street when they forget to put it in gear. Seen it with me own eyes, but instead of a Ford, it was a Dodge...

Thank God for younger guys like you that will continue to keeps these trucks alive. I agree 100% about folks that can't even find the dipstick putting down older iron, it's the same in the motorcycle world.1969FordMan wrote:I have a passion for old things.
