1972 F250 Camper Special in PicknPull

Post by Kurt Combs »

Windsor, CA PicknPull has a very nice 72 F250 two wheel drive Camper Special that should not have made it into their wrecking yard. Probably has 76,000 original miles. All trim is there and looks to be really nice driver quality. Under dash A/C is complete as is the factory air cleaner. I was going to pull the battery tray that had no rust, but ran out of time and one of the welded nuts broke loose. Dash looks nice and cluster is really nice driver quality. I snagged the horn part of the steering wheel, but unfortunately my truck doesn't have wood grain, might have to live with it. The bed was perfect, including the floor, but they hit the driver's side with a folk lift down low. Some 16.5" tires on it that looked good. Tailgate looked to be perfect. The passenger side door closed like new. Blue upholstery looked decent, but not the dash pad. Heater looks like new as did the firewall pad, but I think a guy there when I was tore it trying to get the steering column out. Dual factory tanks, but they poke a hole in them to drain them before putting them in the yard. Even the blue rubber floor mat looked really good. I was going to take the door gaskets, but in my haste I tore the passenger's side and forgot the drivers side. I did get the grille and the chrome trim the goes all the way across the hood, the ends were dented, so I took the one I thought I could fix. If it weren't 90 miles away from me I would be back there tomorrow morning pulling parts. BTW, if you go to look at it take some insecticide with you, the hornets have set-up residence on the gas tank selector switch bracket. Here are pictures of my $50 haul:

The grille is really straight, but does have scratches and I broke at least one of the plastic things that hold the headlight assemblies in place. The plastic inserts have just one crack between the two of them.
