Sad day for my truck scrap

Post by flyboy71 »

Lets have a moment of silence for my scrap that no longer exists. After accumulating 5 years of scrap parts from a number of trucks I had to part with what I absolutely dont need to keep. Most of this was way beyond using on my project and there was no way to part it out. I posted parts in the parts discussion that I can part out. If its on the trailer it was either bent, rusty or damaged. Thing that sucks most is I lost my a$$ only getting $200 for 1700lbs of steel that I paid thousands for over that time. It was gut wrenching watching the claw unload the trailer in less than a minute (that took my dad and I a day to load) and flinging bump steel around like a rag doll. Oh the humanity! At least now Im down to two trucks to make one.

Buh-bye American steel.

Have ya ever thought about making art out of yer scrap? Here's what I made with exhaust tubing, floor pan remnants, and steel rod from a shopping cart abandoned in my neighborhood. Each took about four hours to make.... the claws were the toughest part. I sold one for $250!!! It's a great way to pay for this hobby.....

Looks like a standoff over a roll of paper towels. Nice work! I could have made the same thing but I would have sold mine as rusty lobsters.

I placed the paper towel roll there for scale.

Rust? Even better! People love rusty art. The lady to whom I sold lobster 2.0 (I kept version 1.0) is letting it patina on her front porch.

prices are down i guess. sometimes its easier to just get rid of stuff to let yourself have more attention to other projects in life.
