Wheel adapter size?

Post by Poorboy006 »

I couldn't pass up a Craigslist find on some wheels for my 1967 f100 swb. The wheels that came the truck when I purchased it are just plain awful. My question is what width adapters will I need to fit 8.5 et -6 18" front and 9.5 et 0 20" rear 5x4.5 wheels? The tires are 255/45r18 and 295/45r20. I calculate a front bs of 4.51 and rear bs of 5.25. I know the rear track is narrower and would like the wheels to stick out as evenly as possible. My truck is lowered by the previous owner. I believe he cut coils judging by the camber and removed springs in the back. Dream beams will be on my Christmas list.

What is this "et" of which you speak?
5 on 4.5 will not fit 0n a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern.

Et is offset. I understand the difference in bolt patterns. That is why the the question of fit is in regards to adapters and not just spacers.

The term ET originates from the German word 'Einpresstiefe' which translates as 'insertion depth'.

So "et" = backspacing?

I would just buy the correct wheels for my application. JMHO.

ET is the offset distance of the wheel's mounting face (inboard side of the wheel that mates up to the rotor/drum) to the actual center line of the wheel.

Backspacing is the distance from the inboard mounting face of the wheel to the outside edge of the inboard lip of the wheel.

So,...if you know the width of the wheel and the amount of backspacing.... :hmm:
