Ohhhhh rear differential question

Post by wise1222 »

Im sure this might be covered somewhere else but i dont feel like reading a million threads:

Any reason people are deciding to use the ford explorer (2001-2002) rear differential when lowering their truck compared to just using the one from a CV??

The solid axle disc brake Explorer rear ends were from 1995-2001. 2002 to present is IRS.

Doesn't the CV have an offset differential? Perhaps the explorers have a centered differential. Just guessing.

Explorer rear is offset. Drivers side has the long axle, passenger side is short. I do not know how the Crown Vic rear end is configured.
