steering column shortening project.

Post by darics »

I'm doing the ms/ps steering column shortening. I'm trying to put it all back together. I"m at the point where I need to bolt the turn signal assembly onto the housing. It doesn't seem to want to seat all the way. I've triple checked my lengths. Both the shifter tube and the outer housing are exactly as the chart specifies. It looks to my eye that I need to cut the shift tube about 3/4" shorter than specified to get the blinker assembly close enough to the housing to "engage" it and bolt it down.

Anyone else had this problem? I'm I missing something simple?
