Hi all-
I'm replacing the bearings and cups on the disc brake rotors I pulled out of a 74. As I was pulling the old bearings out, I noticed they said made in China (so assumedly not the original bearings).
When I pulled them out, I noticed the damage on the inside of the rotor itself, it looks like from when the original bearings were removed, or maybe I did it when I was removing these bearing cups..
Anyway, is this damage of the inside wall of the rotor something I need to worry about? or I can put the bearing cup in here and then the bearing, and retaining bolt? I guess the newbie question boils down to, does the bearing cup spin inside the rotor as well as the bearing and this damage will likely cause heat and other issues...? or does just the bearing spin inside the cup, and thus this damage is sustainable and I can proceed using the rotor?
Thanks in advance!

It'll be fine. Might want to take some fine grit sandpaper (around 220-250 grit) and run over the scoring a little to make sure there's no raised/sharp edges that might catch and gall the new races. The race does not move inside the hub, it's pressed in, or take your old race (outside down) and a block of wood and tap it in with a hammer, just make sure you get it straight to start with. You can borrow a bearing/race driving tool at your local parts store.

As long as the bearing cup is still retained tight, and does not spin in the rotor, you should be fine.

Concur with the previous observations.
I drive out races with a brass drift.
To drive in a bearing race, cut a slot through an old race and smooth out any burrs. Use it and a block of wood to drive it home.
Alternatively, HF has a set for $20.

Awesome. The race seems to hold tight after hitting it with 220 grit.
Thanks!
