Wandering front end?

Post by 72bumbee »

Is it just me, or is there something inherently wrong with the bumps steering or front end?
I have owned two bumps, a 67 and a 72 and the 67 was a manual steering and the 72 is power steering, yet they both wander from side to side out on the open road. I haven't really heard anything from the forum that addresses this, but I remember my best friends dad telling me it was something they all did... no explanation.
So I wonder if there is just something wrong with my trucks or is it ford engineering?
I would love to hear some chatter on this topic! :woohoo: :fr:

Wander is characterized by constantly having to correct on center steering while driving. It's usually caused by something binding in the system.

Do you mean loose steering? Where you turn the wheel more than what you'd expect to make it react? In that case, I think some of it is characteristic, steering and suspension systems have come a long way towards correcting that. Kingpin systems just inherently have some slop. Par for the course.
