painting brake booster
If any of you guys have painted the brake booster, what paint did you use. I hoping that it will be something that can be purchased at the local auto parts.

Re: painting brake booster
thanks for the reply guys. I thought about using the engine paint but just wanted some opinions. I going to use etching primer for the prime coat. Now to choose a color

Re: painting brake booster
Good day Jimmy828,
Here's my old booster and the new one (before I painted it). The old one had been painted with rattle-can engine enamel about ten years prior to this photo.

I brushed on Rust Bullet Automotive, using a "dabbing" motion with a throw-away foam brush. The master cylinder got Rust Bullet top-coated with Rust Bullet BlackShell.

That was about six or seven years ago, and both have held up perfectly.

Re: painting brake booster
You're welcome Jimmy. I should have mentioned this before--Rust Bullet contains isocyanates. This thread might be of some interest to you.jimmy828 wrote:Went to web site for the rust bullet. Something i might consider. thanks robroy
What safety equipment is required for paint w/isocyanates?
I'm easily spooked when it comes to toxic chemicals, but I did go to great lengths to avoid contact with the stuff (I used a remote air system and full-body gown while spraying it through an HVLP gun). I believe I made do with a charcoal cannister mask, plastic face-shield, and serious rubber gloves while brushing with it, though in retrospect that may have been foolish.
