Small block vs Big block front springs.

I swapped my 390 with a 302 and now my ride height is a few inches higher. Also 20 years ago when I first got the truck I cut the springs to lower the front. (Yes I know that's a no-no, what can I say I was a kid. ) Anyway I was looking into dropping the front with drop I beams and wanted to replace the coil springs. My first stop was LMC, they have "V-8" springs but not specifically small block springs. Wouldn't Ford have had two spring types for the V8 trucks, small and big block?

Looks like the 390 weighs about 265 pounds more than the 302.

I can't seem to get a straight answer on this, been scouring over the net for days. Even with the cut springs I was using with the 390, the 302 is completely wrecking the camber because it's so much lighter. I just can't figure the the springs would be the same for both engines...

If you go by a NAPA stop in and ask about the springs, I'm sure there are 2 different part numbers.

Could it be that six and small block used the same spring?

I think the two part numbers would be left and right hand sides.

I was curious about the 6 cylinder springs too. I wonder what the weight difference is, I'll have to look it up.

Best bang for the buck (and they aren't expensive) is a pair of Moog CC808 progressive rate front coils. I have a set on my '69 F100 Ranger with an inline 240. They've been installed for 2 years now. My truck does not sit high in the front end with them.

Bobby Ford, on this forum, has a set on his '72 F100 with a 460. His springs have been on his truck for 5 years now.

I'm presently working on a '72 F100 (for hire), with a 240, to convert the front end to discs brakes. I also installed Moog CC808 progressive rate front coils on this '72 F100.
