DJM beam questions

Post by Fuquay »

Hey, everybody! I installed some DJM beams yesterday, but I forgot to check beforehand which beam went with the correct side (passenger or driver). Can someone who has (correctly) installed these tell me which way the kingpin retaining bolt is pointed when these are in correctly?

So, I guess I've got a 50% chance of not having to pull them out and reinstall them. I don't mind taking the 5 or 6 hours to do it again, but I fear I've expended all the goodwill I will be getting from the homeowners' association at my girlfriend's condo.

One other thing: the wheel seems to be turning fine before I install the kingpin retaining bolts, but when I tighten them down, the action becomes stiff. Has anyone else encountered this?

Thanks,
Richard

This is the way I installed mine. As far as the "binding" I am assuming you installed new bushing into the spindle/kingpin? If you used the bronze bushings, they might have been reamed a little tight and should wear in.

Thanks for the response. Mine are installed the opposite direction, so I may have a few more hours of work ahead of me.
