Awesome! Great job fabing up the bumper mounts and getting the hitch installed!

Re: 1968 F250 Project
Thanks! It was definitely a huge undertaking with all of the rust issues. Honestly, my dad and I had no idea what we were getting into until we kept digging deeper, but I gotta say, being able to drive it now sure makes all of the hours put into it and the hours to come worth it.EDVSU wrote: moment of silence for all the rust that died during your resto. WOW. You've done an awesome job getting her back up and running. No doubt it's much better now that it was even new! Props to you for taking on such an immense salvation. Good job. Lookin sweet.

Thank you, sargentrs!
It looks like the exact same bumper. I really like the look of it on my truck compared to the contoured bumper I had thrown on it last minute (also "borrowed" from my dad's truck... )
Thanks popeyes! I really enjoyed designing and fabricating the bumper mounts.popeyes71 wrote:Awesome! Great job fabing up the bumper mounts and getting the hitch installed!
Hopefully the next update with be the painting process!

Sadly, I didn't get a chance to get it painted before winter. (well, it's almost winter here) I know for a fact that it will be painted this spring. I'm not sure if we're gonna paint it ourselves or bring it to a friend's shop. I've been driving it back and forth to school and work for the last few months, only on the nice days.hfdco4 wrote:So have you got paint on this ride yet? Let us know how it's going.
When it rains I drive this...
I also picked up a new tailgate for my truck. $100 with the trim panel, and only a few minor dents. Sorry for the crappy picture.
Now my dad can have his tailgate back that I "borrowed" from his truck.

Re: 1968 F250 Project
Well, for the most part the old pickup has been hibernating for the winter. There was a few nice days that I took her out for a drive. I sure miss driving the old girl. Anyway, school was canceled today due to freezing rain, so I put a "new" bumper on the truck. A few weeks ago, I drug home another 79 bronco, and it had a real nice chrome bumper with bumper guards on it, so I knew for sure where that was gonna go!
The body is really tough, but it runs good, 4 wheel drive works, has all the trim I need for my other bronco, and the interior is almost perfect. I couldn't pass up such a nice parts truck for $400. I actually used the 68 to pull her home.
Here it is on the 68
I think it really adds to the look of the truck. Chrome is always a nice touch. Maybe one day I'll find a nice aluminum grille to put on her... Too bad they're so expensive.

Fantastic build! I've spend the past hour reading your thread, and man oh man, I wish I would have had your fabrication skills. Your Dad must really be a great mentor! Keep up the great work, and I will watch for that final coat of paint!
BTW, the new bumper and guards look badass!

Thanks man, I really appreciate it! I will say it has been a long process, and I still have a lot of work ahead of me with the painting process. I can't wait till winter is over so I can drive the old truck again.Bullitt74 wrote:Fantastic build! Re: 1968 F250 Project
Yeah, there was no way I could pass up such a good deal on a parts truck. The junkyard that had the trim I needed for my other Bronco charged $20 apiece for any trim item. There's 4 pieces on the tailgate, almost double that on each side, it adds up fast.hfdco4 wrote:Glad to hear you are still making progress. Nice score on the Bronco parts truck.
I planned on backing the truck out of the garage to get some better pics of the bumper, but it was foggy and raining all day. Wisconsin weather is so weird. A week ago it was subzero, and now it's in the 40's which feels like a heatwave!

Re: 1968 F250 Project
Hey man, sorry I didn't see this earlier. Both of the projects have kind of been at a stand still because of winter. I'm slowly gathering parts for the Bronco so I can really tear into it once spring really shows up. Once the temperature starts rising hopefully the old '68 will get painted. I actually gave her a good run and picked up another bumpside yesterday. She did great on the free way!hfdco4 wrote:So how is the work going on two projects now?

This is going to be my next project! I bought it for the 4x4 drive train, and I was going to swap my body onto it but changed my mind. Not bad for $250. It was an old construction truck and sure was hammered. And I thought my truck was rusty when I started!
The next step is to get an engine in it and getting it driving and have some fun with it. I'm dealing on a 390 from a friend at the moment. Now I need to find another truck for a donor body... I officially have the sickness
