Re: 1968 F500 Utility Truck
The lady said she would have all her personal things removed by Friday the 13th of March. I am not in a super hurry to
move it but am anxious to see if she has a good running engine. My buddy has a yard where I am gonna tow it before
hopefully driving it home.
My wife said I can get AAA to tow it for me. It is about 30 miles or less. Otherwise I need to figure out how much
a tow company will charge for this "oversized" vehicle. I could tow it with my f250 but need to rent or borrow a
trailer.

Re: 1968 F500 Utility Truck
Today I got the paperwork for the F500. Monday I can get the title transferred.
Also, the lady(previous owner) sent me a message this morning that the truck was ready to pick up.
She had to remove all of her husbands things from the bed. It has a utility bed with lots of storage.
I went by this evening and took a few more photos. She is nice but has some rust holes here and there.
Some rust where the bed topper is bolted to the utility bed. I also noticed that she left the vice. Really nice
looking vice as well as the hoist. I guess it will need a new hydraulic cylinder but I can put engines and things
in the back if I want I suppose.
I talked to a towing service that will tow the F500 43 miles to my house for $85 hook up plus $3 per mile $129+$85=$214
He has a rollback truck that can handle the weight and size of truck. I was thinking of finding or making a tow bar and
drag it home with the F250 but that plan has several flaws.
I am going to have to slow down and take it one truck at a time. I don't know if or when I will get either truck on the road yet.
I am just trying to get them both secured and parked in my back yard. I'd like to build a wooden carport for now to keep
them out of the rain. I'll upload some photos soon.
p.s.
Also, I for some reason bought an old 1983 F100 SWB. It's got dents here and there but I think fixable. I'm not sure
if the three speed column shift is not worn out. I don't know much about it yet except that it's covered in oil.
The engine bay. It has a new starter relay and battery cables. It's equipped with power steering, power brakes and
air conditioning. But that's for another forum. I want it to be my daily driver if I get it running. Well not really
a daily driver but I can see me not driving the 2003 F250 every day to work and stuff.

Re: 1968 F500 Utility Truck
How is the drive from where the truck is to where you are going to take it? If it is fairly flat and back roads I might try. Take a real good look at the tires and see if the brakes are free first! 214 may be a bargain if you have a problem.

Check a few more places for towing. Price seems high. Check garages / gas stations that also do towing.

Re: 1968 F500 Utility Truck
It would be a certain amount of piece of mind to have it home safe on a rollback. San Antonio is right in the middle of point a to point b. Either interstate driving or lots of traffic lights along the way.hfdco4 wrote:How is the drive from where the truck is to where you are going to take it? I don't know what that is but it sounds awesome!DuckRyder wrote:Cool, i like it...

I siphoned out about 4 gallons of murky orange/brown gas. I guess we're going to pull the gas tank.
A friend of mine wants to come over and check for spark on Sunday.
I didn't know the roof slid open on the top of the bed. I thought it was missing when the truck got home.
