nonblinking drivers side blinker

Post by OldBlue67 »

Ok this is probably a simple deal, but I'm not familiar with wiring/ electrical stuff. I was testing my lights today and found an issue with my drivers side turn signal. The drivers side parking lights work, but when I turn on the turn signal the lights dont come on or blink. Its only the drivers side the passenger side works fine :? Any thoughts for the electrically inept?

Check the light to the front/rear on the same side, its probably burned out.
its a saftey feature on these trucks to tell you when one of the lights is not working.

More than likely just a bad bulb and/or corroded socket. Clean out the socket and use a little dielectric grease for protection.

its a dual filament bulb, one side could be broken

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

 well this thing is trying to make a fool of me. Its working again.  I checked the bulb out on both ends and both filaments were good. In the process I managed to break my rear tail light lens cleanly in half :cuss: Luckily I had an extra that will work for the time being. I figured a new bulb wouldnt hurt it anyway and was on my way to the Autozone when it decided to start blinking again  It must be a loose wire or bad connection somewhere. Right now I'm not going to fuss with it...I'll just wait till it stops blinking again to fix it

I just went through the same thing on the left front. Turned out to be the socket. The insides are shot so it has no more spring left to it. I finally got it working so I left it alone. Looks like the whole headlight bucket needs to come out to get in there to replace the socket. Not worth it as long as it's working.

What does it mean when the signal lights come on, but they don't blink? Sometimes they might click once, but they have been clicking more and more slow, and now they just stay on when I hit the signal. Left blinker gets a solid-on light, right blinker gets the same.

Of course, if I flick the signal bar up and down, it sort of works like a blinker by turning the light on and off and on and off and...

Try testing the flasher. Mine are the same way and I checked it last night. Fire is going in but not coming out. Getting a new today. Hope that's it. It's the easiest anyway.

If blinkers work slowly, the relay does not enough power to function properly. Possible reasons include a bad ground, someone may have installed a heavy duty flasher (for towing or whatever reason), the flasher is bad, you have a bad connection (corroded or loose), a low voltage problem, or other problems.

Thanks...

I have a Camper Special... would that have a heavy duty flasher by default? I haven't looked to see if it's been replaced, but I can't imagine a flasher lasting 40 years...

Are there any differences between a heavy duty flasher and "normal" flasher, as far as the connections?

Can anyone tell me a bit more about the turn signal flashers on the 67?

When I try to look them up on AutoZone or NAPA, they both tell me they aren't available. As I understand, the 67 had a square one-year-only kind of flasher, but the round ones from later are compatible? Is that correct?

Does anyone know by any chance what part I need to pick up?

Thanks!
