its a lighter duty truck than a full 5000 lb gvw truck. i guess it depends on what your going to do with the truck. a c4 will rob engine power from the truck. you will eat up more horses with an automatic than a standard.

My1stF-100,

I just sold the perfect tranny for your 347 last week, (a C-6 with the small block bellhousing is bullitproof for that many ponies).
IMO the C-4 will hold up ok, but have them add an additional set of clutches when it gets rebuilt.
Dustin can explain this a little better I think.

id love to go bigger but no money for it im machining the block my self i have a eagle 347 rotating assemblie already wife got me for my b day that was 1,809.95 so i need to use it plus the new plus the new ignition i just got that was 499.95 and the headers was 249. and the new starter and milodon oil pan and pic up pump drive shaft and windage try that was 379.00 and my valve covers was 349.00 so i have spent like little over 3286.00 so far on this motor so i dont want to lose what i have spent on it but i do agree with you all bigger would be better

That's a lot of coin. How are going to machine the block yourself?

Sounds like a lot of coin to me!!! Also you may want to make sure that you are using Forged pistons and have your ring end gap right for a Huffer set-up! You may already know that but keep it in the back of your mind when building your engine.

If your dropping that kind of cash on the motor, then the trannie is a no brainer. Built C6 all the way. You could roast em' off all day long & never have to worry about a trannie ever again.

I am with averagef250. A truck 4 speed will be worthless bolted up to that specific motor. I would go with a C6 & be done with it. :2cents:
