Sandblaster suggestions!

Post by Fordfool »

Hey guys, I wanna get a sandblaster and was wondering if you guys had bought any of the ones I am gonna ask about. I have seen a few in the pics of your project updates and they look similar. Links are below:

Also, I wanna buy a paintgun. Any suggestions there? By the way, I work for a city and we have several HUGE air tanks hooked to large compressors so I will taking a lot of this to work. No worries on air supply :-)

My son bought an inexpensive rig that does the job but I do not have enough air compressor to do it justice. My advice is to make certain you air compressor pushes enough cfm to run whatever you end up buying. Good luck.

If your air supply isn't a problem, then either of those will work for you just fine. However, if the city shop does have LARGE compressors, I'd go for a sandblaster with a little larger tank. I have a 40-gallon sandblaster, and I'll empty it out in about 5-10 minutes. I actually spend more time sweeping up the sand, filtering it, and re-filling the tank than I do actually doing any blasting. A larger tank will allow you to get more work done. However, with my air compressor, my 40-gallon blaster is just about right. It allows it a little time to recover and cool down before the next round of blasting, but with a larger compressor, that's not an issue.
