F350 people
I know this is sorta tech related, but i figured it would be seen much more and i'd get a measurement/feedback faster outside of the suspension section.
Can anyone with a f350 front end out of the truck, get dimensions on the i-beam pivot bushing? Most likely i will be picking up a F-350 front end but the little hitch is that i need to be able to put new bushings in it.
NPD has f100 and f250 listed for bumpside years for the pivot bushings... and F-350 for '75-79. DC and LMC have the f100 and f250 listings for the bushigns, no f-350.
However the f100 and f250 bushigns arn't different like the catalogs make them seem because i put my new NPD f100 pivot bushings in my f250 without a problem. So maybe the F-350 bushings are the same too?
Any one know if the bushing size is different for a f-350 or can anyone get some measurements? Thanks

Sure wish I had mine that far apart to help you.
But I will tell you something I learned about my F-350 this week...
Almost all the catalogs show no listing for the F-350 radius arm bushings, (or the catalogs show a different part number from the F-100 & F-250). And I had read here that the F-350's used a different bushing there.
My new "energy suspension" radius arm bushings are actually a part number for the F-100/F-250 trucks, and don't tell me they are wrong!
I'll try to re-post the part number later this afternoon in case anyone wants to reference it in the future.
There are so few F-350's left on the road, so it's getting harder & harder to get info on them.
If you can afford the "down time" with the truck, I'd simply pull the arms / then get the bushings locally to make sure you get the right ones?

I checked the listings at rockauto.com . There are different part numbers for 1970 F100 and F350 and some brands are the same. Sorry. There are not as many listings for the F350s as F100 for sure. My parts guy can usually come up with what I need anyway. Good luck. Let us know what you find out.

Napa sells them. I dont now if they are in the store or not but here are the part numbers:
Pivot Bushing NCP 2675283
Radis Arm Bushings NCP 2749147 or part number MRC HB1045K the first is lifetime warrenty. Also there site has the meausrements on it. Hope this helps.

The Ford Master Parts Catalog (MPC) shows something interesting that I never knew.
F100/250 trucks have different-length radius arm bushings, depending on whether it's the front or rear bushing. The front (inner) bushing on F100/250 2WDs is 2-3/8" long, while the rear (outer) bushing is 1-3/16" long. However, on the F350s both bushings are the same size: 1-3/4" long.
Why? Who knows. But it might explain why the aftermarket isn't showing them.
The only thing that I could think of for the difference might be a larger-diameter threaded portion of the radius arm, which would require a bushing with a larger hole. Hoping the MPC would show that, I then checked the listings for radius arms, and while it does show that the F350s had a different radius arm part number, it doesn't mention the threaded end, though it DOES show that the other end (that attaches to the I-beam) uses a larger-diameter and longer bolt (3/4"-10 x 6-3/4" long for the F100/250 vs. 1"-18 x 7-1/2" long for the F350). Therefore, I'm guessing that the threaded end could also be larger, and therefore not fit the F100/250 bushings.
Anyway...the factory part number for the F350 radius arm bushings is C7TZ-3B203-A and the following dealers have them in stock:

According to the MPC, there are three different sizes of axle pivot bushings, two of them for F-series trucks. Which one of those two that is used depends on the GVW rating of the truck/axles.
Later, I'll put together a more comprehensive list of which F250s got which bushings. But for now, at least you know that the F350 does have a different factory part number than the F100 and lower GVW 250s, and it's because of a larger O.D. What you need is PN C7TZ-3B177-A and is available from the following sources:

As long as you have the full current part number, you can use PartsVoice to search the NOS dealers and a small percentage (15%-20%?) of Ford dealerships). Membership is free and so are the searches, but you need the current part number. A majority of the time, the number shown in the MPC is the most recent number, but unless you check the O.S.I. (Obsolete/Supersed/Interchange) catalogs too to check for parts numbers which have been rendered obsolete or changed since its' 1975 release, it's a crap shoot. THanks Keith! That sums up the axle pivot and radius arm bushing differences.
So If i was to put a F350 front end on my f100, I wouldn't be able to just swap the beams into my radius arms, i would have to use the F350 radius arms, and get F350 radius arm bushings?
Also, will i have any problem putting my f100 coil springs and shocks on a f350 front end if i swap it on?

The spring question is a tough one. I have only found a listing for 67-72 F350 coil springs once. It was from a suspension place in Pennsylvania whose name I have forgotten. I have even checked at spring shops and they couldn't find a listing. The F100 springs might work. My F350 has coils that are for a later Ford van, I think. They are a part that number that was given to cooltoolguy by an old timer at a spring shop. They seem to work OK. Search "F350 coil springs" here for more information.1971ford wrote:THanks Keith! It seems that the F350s are somewhat of a ******* child. Maybe that's why I like mine?
