Well, I finished killing Rusty - a '71 F-100 Ranger XLT and sent him to the junkyard on Saturday. Just thought this was a funny pic towing a '71 with my '71. Still have a bunch of parts left if you need anything! Anyone else have Old Ford pulling Old Ford pics?
cool I say it weighed about 2500lb and brought $225.

, That truck is more solid than either of mine . At least you kept some parts off it to keep other bumps on the road . By the way, I really like your '71, the color scheme is perfect. I need to get a picture of my '71 towing the '67 somewhere .

It brought $273 in scrap including some other junk I had sitting around and a broken 3 speed Ford manual. I had offered the fenders and bed for sale for a long time and couldn't find a taker local and shipping is a PITA. They don't bring that much money in the poor south anyway. Scrap prices are pretty high so it's hard to justify working too hard at selling the pieces. My truck has solid fenders, so didn't need em.
Did take the interior, exhaust, glass, lights, transmission and power steering from the junk trunk, along with LOTS of misc "stupid items" that are hard to find unless you have a whole truck to work from.
Don't get too excited. The bed had a 2 foot hole in it and the rest of it was real thin. The inner part of the bed was beat to heck by years of abuse. The red oxide primer was hiding a good batch of rust. The hood was mangled when I dropped an engine on it on accident. The floor pans were mostly gone. The fenders had big holes in the bottom of them and the underside was RUSTY. I broke every stupid bolt clip trying to get the fenders off despite multiple WD40 baths and trying to be nice. Eventually my time is worth more than the fenders! And the highest offer I got for the remainder of the carcass was $50. I'll take the $270 and get on with my life.
My expectations for bodies (and being rust free) are much higher in South Carolina than my time in the north!
I had to do something similar to my 68 F100 project. It had been sitting for several years and I took a closer look at it a few weeks ago and I either had to get working on it or get rid of it. Due to working on my daily driver at the moment, I opted to get rid of it. It was a bitter sweet moment when we loaded it on the tilt-bed trailer for the new owner. A new project will come my way soon, but it most likely wil not be a bump-side. My next truck will be a bit older I think.
