Towing Capacity?

Someone asked me today with my bone stock 69 f100 with a 390 and 3 speed with overdrive what the towing capacity was. And to be honest I have no idea. I looked around and can't find it, so why not go to the brain turst here and what it is?

It's not what they can tow, it's what they can stop
I've pulled a 4200lb truck on a 2000lb trailer , plus tools and stuff
and i got by , but my F350 was more stable.
Brakes on a well balanced trailer make all the difference in the world.

I've also had a near death experience on a poorly balanced trailer.

Well that goes without saying, it is all about the trailer and how it is loaded. Do it wrong and it can be a religious experience. But still I was wondering what did the factory rate it to be?
