Why was I sent California "weight decals"

Post by patrickdotryan »

Hi Fordificationers,

This is probably just for the californians to answer, but if anyone else knows, please chime in. I just received my 2013 registration. It looks no different from my 2012 registration, except that along with my license plate tag, there are two small stickers that say 2013 and have a a CA seal. On the back it says "...apply in the box between CA DMV and the state seal". What box? What seal? I drive an F250 and as far as I know I don't need anything except license plates. No weights or anything on the side of the truck. Any clues what this would be for?

It appears the dirtbags in Sacramento changed the laws. Here is your answer: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/commercial/cvra.htm

Still doesn't seem right though cuz these rigs are rated at less than 8,000 lbs. Ya might want to check your door plate for the GVW.. looks like the new calc carries a higher registration fee.

Hio, thanks and I agree with your second statement. I think they must have sent them to me accidentally because in the link you supplied it says "vehicles NOT affected" and lists "pickups". Cheers, Patrick

I'd go with an accident but I should be able to tell you soon, my tags are up.

My '71 F250 fees were the same this year as last, $163.00.

prob a accident, I use those stickers with the paratransit e350s and e450s we have them up on the front fenders but even those are iffy we may get a set of smaller weight stickers for that particular bus but then the next year we dont. I believe its for heavier vehicles and the pickups should be exempt. I just got my f250 registration done a week ago and it was 160 on the DOT, haha pun intended.
