My Father's passing...2 years ago today

Post by Madman »

It was two years ago that my mentor, best friend, and father passed away from cancer. He was the man who taught me wrenching, the value of hard work and knowing you can do anything you put your mind to, and got me addicted to Mustangs, Ford Trucks, and old flatfender jeeps! I bought a 1970 F250 4x4 while he was going through chemo as a moivational future project together (he factory ordered a 1970 F250 4x4 in 70 and it was his favorite truck of all time!). I continue the project and intend to retsore it in his honor, and was hoping it would be complete by now, but you know how life gets in the way.

Miss you, Dad.....

Thanks for sharing. My father suffered a massive heart attack in December. In those first few critical days, when we were not sure if he would make it or not, I took alot of time to reflect on my relationship and what he meant to me. I quickly realized I wasn't ready, or prepared for him to go. Much like yourself, when I think about all of life's lessons, all of my hobbies, and most of my beliefs are a direct reflection of my father. He was also a die hard Ford guy, and always had something he was tinkering on in the garage. He is a huge influence on my life...So, I can emphasis with how much of a loss it must have been for you. Time will heal. Hopefully now, you only reflect on the good times, and continue on living the life he wanted for you.

He is still trying to recover, 3 1/2 months later...and is making small improvements day by day. I too bought a project in hopes of us to work on together someday. A 1970 torino. I really do hope we get the chance.

It is a terrible event when a loved one passes. My Dad passed 6 years ago. I took him fishing often. Haven't been fishing since he passed. Guess he was the reason I went fishing. My wife passed almost 3 years ago, she loved to do family BBQs. Stopped BBQing when she passed. Oh well life is full of other things to do and enjoy.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my mother 5 years ago this coming Mother's Day. She was my muse, my inspiration, my counselor, my cheerleader, my motivator and my best friend. I think of her often, with love, and miss her every day. If she was still with me she'd tell me how wonderful my bump is and how great it's going to be when finished....day after day after year after year...and be sincere every time.

Sorry for your loss I also lost my father 4yrs ago..... He was a hard man, stubborn and very independent. My values in life reflect a lot of the way he was, but I'm a very different person than he ever was. I kept the family homestead(over 100yrs) in my possession to honor what meant the most to him. I wish a few things could've been different in the end....he was eaten up by Alztimer's.... it was extremely difficult to be just a stranger to the man that meant so much :(
I've had enough and I'm not alone

Thank you everyone for your kind words and similar experiences. Some things heal so slowly.
