I just finished a half flip on my front hanger, AFTER installing rear drop shackles, and it was way too low for me, with a bad enough pinion angle to vibrate on takeoff. I was assuming it would help "correct" the pinion angle from the drop shackles...I made the mistake of trimming the hangers before checking out if it was going to work, so now I can't go back to stock without getting new hangers. So, I flipped the hanger back over in the stock direction and just moved it up the frame so I could bolt it on. It's much better pinion angle and height for me. The hanger is about 3" higher than stock, but roughly 3" lower than the half flip. I'll probably be welding up the holes in the frame that aren't used after I make sure of the final setup.
I have a unique setup though. It's a two piece driveshaft and a crew cab. I have removed 5 leaves from the original 9 leaves it had on it as well, so that also changed my ride height and won't be the same as others' setups.
Ugh, my pics are too big to upload...I'll work on it tomorrow.

This is stock height in the rear:

This is with 4 of 9 springs removed. Lowest overload spring is kept:

This is too low. Springs removed, drop rear shackle and half hanger flip:

This is okay for now, until I get the bed on and check. Springs removed, drop shackles and hanger moved up the frame from stock:

Awesome truck, man! I'd love to have a crew cab like yours with a flareside bed on it

Re: My different take on a hanger flip.
Thanks man!
I got the bed on, and it looks pretty good. Maybe a little too low still for me, but the pinion angle is still too much. It still vibrates in 1st and 2nd. I think I'm going to get new hangers, put the hangers back to stock and remove the overload. I'll add a main leaf back if I need, but hopefully I can get a good ride, keep axle wrap down and have a good pinion angle without needing shims.

Re: My different take on a hanger flip.
Loving the lowered crew... I would love to do mine someday, but mine being a 1 ton F350, it is going to be hell since everything is even beefier than yours under the truck. Not sure it is worth the hassle on my end. Plus, then I will have to get rid of my 16.5 wheels and I hunted for my 5 slot mags in 8 lug for ages!! So not sure I am going to even attempt to lower mine for that reason alone.
But awesome job on your end!!

Re: My different take on a hanger flip.
Thanks! Your truck should actually be the same as mine and probably easier, since my 67 steering linkage and spindles were unique. I used 73 F350 spindles to convert to disks, so it threw a loop into the ordeal. My original beams were still HD beams and large kingpins, just as yours should be. You'll have a different front spring, rear spring pack and rearend, but it should all work the same. You can keep the 16.5" wheels too, just not wide ones like the slotted mags that stick out:)

Re: My different take on a hanger flip.
It looks great with the steel wheels on it. I like the ride height, too. Looking at your truck makes me want to lower mine a bit. The streets in New Orleans aren't very kind to lowered vehicles. I may just do a half hanger flip to level out the rear and call it a day. I'm totally in love with your crew cab, man. It looks so nice
