It seems as though Ford had many special pickups during the bump years. Best I have found is there were no records kept of actual production numbers of these trucks. I did find in '69 & '70 you could only get the 8' Styleside bed.

By the way you have an 8' Flareside. Stepsides were built by Chevrolet.

I thought we had this discussion before?

It is what it appears to be, nothing more nor less. Obviously with the farmer fixes it is a one of a kind and as that is extremely common after 40 years, then no it's not a rare truck. I really don't see a reason to dwell on it so seriously. Enjoy it for what it is.

My only question is does you glove box door have the F+R emblem on or at least the holes in it? From what I understand, the mirrors came in a box in the truck. I've never heard about the optional emblems. That your truck has the dealer emblems sitting where the F+R emblem should be, then I do not think it's an original F+R.

I'm going to make a decision soon as what to do with this truck. I have a 69 F100 that is a very nice driver. If I decide to restore the F250 I'm going to use the F100 as a donor. The trucks glovebox does not have any emblems or holes so that's settled Thank You.

I lile the board above the bed fender. The truck looks clean. The creeper shiuld always be stoid up when not in use. The color is nostalgic looking.

I could not find the explaination on the site about the F&M trucks. But it was a sales ploy sort of. You got a few more items than custom. But not as many as ranger. I do wonder if tjat fenderboard was one of them. The stylesides got sideboards. Why not your flareside . Rare? More everyday. The fewer trucks there are the rarer all trucks become.

The fenderboards were homemade you can see where a vise was bolted on one of the boards.

Here is one page. Not the one i was looking for. http://www.fordification.com/tech/trim.htm
on that page it says only the 1970 had the metal emblem for F&R. So you have a late model 69. I also havent seen the emblem mounted to the hood. Maybe the dealer moved it. What is the sticker beside the hood emblem? Another dealer sticker?

I would steal the bed unless I could find a 9 footer for a future COE project. Sell the rest.

Actually it looks like they should have been decals in '69 and no glove box emblem...

Yes they are a "Farm and Ranch Special" and ordered by the customer as such. My neighbor had two that he ordered, a '69 that he sold to another neighbor and he ordered another '71 exactly like the '69. They were both the same green as your truck is. 3/4 ton, 360, 4 speed. Nothing fancy but a custom cab. He claimed the stepside box was standard equipment and the styleside box is the option. Your rear bumper looks to be homemade like a lot of them were back then. Mirrors did come in a box and usually installed by the dealer. The spotlight I'm not sure about but I think that could have been a factory option also. The end gate was also cut in by the PO and my question is, does it have a box hoist or lift? They definitely were built to haul bales and feed but without four wheel drive they were just another fair weather farm tractor. His other two trucks are long gone but to answer your original question, yes this is a rare truck, most likely ordered by a vertically challenged rancher that was reasonably good with a welder. Good find! Thanks for sharing. With your posted pictures this makes this the third one I have ever seen. 8)

I'm not a farmer but what I understand is they had lifts to tilt the whole truck up and let grain drain out. I've seen this done with entire semi trucks at grain elevators in my town. No lift mechanisms on the truck itself.
