Rare or not????

Post by bigdfsm »

It seems like the more I look the more it seems like my truck is kind of rare. My father special ordered this truck in 69 with the Ranger package it has no power brakes no power steering and has a T18 under the floor. It seems to me that since the Ranger package was the "high end " trim package that most of them would be automatic and power everything right? So my question is how rare is a 69 Ranger with a t18 and power nothing? :?

96' Ranger 4.0. 5 speed
86' Cougar secret drivetrain
04' chebby I don't want to talk about it.

The 'Ranger' package is a set of body and interior trim options...has nothing to do with drivetrain, steering or brakes. All engine/transmission/steering/brake options available on a base model was also available on a Custom Cab or Ranger. The drivetrain/steering/brakes were in addition to the selected trim package.

I would think that most high end trim and option trucks were dealer ordered to bring customers into the showroom and would be pretty loaded. Drive nice truck, get sticker shock and buy less optioned truck.

I will say that if it was mine it would have PS and PB added pretty darned quick.

In the old days you could pretty much build your own truck instead of the way it is now. Regardless of "rarity" money is in the optioned out trucks. Just like a convertible Challenger. The 6cyl had the lowest production number. It's also valued the lowest.
