Steering wheel differences...underbelly...

Post by chazskinz »

:help: Please....
I am replacing my steering wheel. i have what looks like what I need except for the underneath...
the hub is a bit shorter on this "new" one and the metal plate (13A323 in schematic) seems a bit higher.
As far as I can tell the wheel which is being replaced is original...
Can anyone direct me to pics of this underside or comparisons so I can see OE steering wheel vs ?
Or tell me what I can look for for the right fit.
right now I'm assuming I can just put the "new" one on as is or switch out the metal plate...
this is the only difference in wheels as all else seems the same.....
thanks to any and all who are generous enough to help or respond...
:D

The original wheel is off my 67 F100 flareside 352 3 on the tree...

The "replacement" steering wheel is exactly the same in all measurements...except...

underneath where the metal plates and canceling cams are (13A323 in steering wheel schematic) the replacement wheel metal plate is higher than the original...
the original is 1/4" high and the replacement wheel plate is 1/2" high...

I can switch out the plates as it looks like mine is original to the truck..no problem there...
but...what if it's not? or what would the other wheel be off of? since that is the only difference in the wheels...

usually all of that is gone when you get a new wheel...
i just got lucky to get this NOS one, in pretty good shape, to use...
and then I got to thinking...it might be a good difference to let others know about...
