You might also want to check the band adjustment while you're at it.

It's been a LOOOONNNNNGGGG time since I worked on a C4, so I can't remember how they are adjusted, but I'm sure there are some others on here who can give you the procedure.

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

That's not an oil leak :nono: That's SWEAT from all that HORSEPOWER!!

On a C4 there are two bands to adjust. One is the low-reverse band, one is the intermediate band. The low-reverse is the rearward most band. To adjust either, back the lockdown nut off of the square headed bolts and tighten the bolts to 10 ft. lbs, then back the square headed bolt out 1-1/2 turns for the intermediate band and 3 turns for the low-reverse band.

Thanks for that info, BobbyFord.

I've done that operation I don't know how many times, but it's been a lot of years and sometimes I come down with a severe case of CRS...

I've been experiencing a bit of that too lately myself :shh: . I think the older we get the worse the CRS gets.

Ok, well, finished everything I started yesterday. And nothing. I have reverse, but no forward. Everything seems to check out fine, but I just don't have any forward momentum or anyhting.

Nope. I don't have any air tools. I was thinking fo getting a manual for the C$, plus a rebuild kit. IT doesn't look too hard. I can afford $300 allot better than $600 to $1000 or more..

I overhauled my C6 for $165, + fluid. That included steels, frictions, o-rings, gaskets, intermediate band, pump bushing, tailshaft bushing and a TransGo Reprogramming kit for the valve body.

What?!? That's awesome. I was looking over at rockauto. Are they any good for there kits? I was looking at the master repair one. There's one for $49 and the other is $69.

Like I said before, I can do $200 to $300. $600 or more is not possible right now.

Not sure about the quality of RockAuto's kit. I get all of my automatic trans parts from Transtar Industries.
